⨴ The missiles are completely useless.





By the time the Strigon received a refresh, the seething hatred of the things had simmered down, and it was no longer the only scratch-built combat drone in Nadia's fleets. NS continued to provide multiple configurations of one vehicle rather than multiple purpose-built vehicles, owing to continuing difficulties developing high-power weaponry and engines keeping costs high.

The refresh changed little visually, but resulted in an all-round superior vehicle. Lighter weight and better engines gave it increased range, better materials and structural design allowed more powerful and precise weaponry, and better use of automation resulted in lower cost. This made them a common sight in military and civilian applications alike.


This is a from-the-ground-up rebuild of something I entered in RLM Contest #3: Scientifically-More-Accurate Space Ships! (It got second place.)

• The wood and blade hull of the Block 1 has been replaced with scaling blocks and bracecubes. This results in more accurate proportions and a vastly stronger hull.
  
• The cannons and the missiles have swapped places, as an autocannon can now be embedded into the spine (resulting in vastly improved RoF, power, and accuracy).
  
• All steam cannons have been replaced with magic and cosmetic flamethrowers for improved performance (and easier landings). The center thrusters have been moved to the top, for easier balancing. The reaction wheels have been removed, as they are no longer needed.
  
• The side turrets are works of art, with double the power, double the RoF, and double the barrels.
  
• The ship now has aerodynamics, and is perfectly centered, making landings vastly easier.

The contest version of this ship (0.3x, no aero, cannons only) is 197 blocks - well under half of the original entry's block count.

Lancers are long-range attackers.
Equipped with directed-energy weapons and orbments, they strike from great distance to devastating effect. The enormous size and power demands of armaments built to reach over light-seconds almost always results in purpose-built ships, with defensive measures left to shielders.
