[Tool] Object Notes Revised

Description
Note: this tool has been updated and changed from its original release as TtS has introduced native GM Notes as of version 12.2. The tool now functions as a companion for the built-in system.

This is a tool for GM's (and those with admin privileges) to view and manage the GM notes on in-game objects.

Adding notes:
  • Click the Refresh button on the tool to scan your table for any objects with GM Notes. The tool will automatically show any notes found.

  • To add new notes use the field in the object's context-menu. Once added the note can be edited and removed via the tool. The notes are stored on the objects themselves. Removing an object from your scene will also remove the note from the tool.

Viewing notes:
  • You can cycle through saved notes with the left/right arrow buttons. The refresh button will check for new notes on the table.

  • The P button will ping the object whose note you are currently viewing.

  • The C button will snap your camera to the object whose note you are currently viewing.

Edit/removing notes:
  • Simply edit the input field on the UI directly to edit a note. All changes are automatically saved. You can also edit an object directly and click the "Refresh" button on the tool.

  • Remove a note by clicking the X button at the bottom right to remove the currently selected note.

  • You can also customise the font size for each note via the +/- buttons.

Global UI:
  • The G button will copy the tool's XML UI to the Global UI space. You can toggle it off again by clicking G again. Please note however this will overwrite any other XML UIs you have active at the time.

  • Both the notes window and its toggle-view button can be dragged around your screen.

  • The original object is still required for the Global UI to work, however it can be scaled down, locked, hidden away etc as long as it's still loaded on the table.

anyway this can be set per player so everyone can keep their own notes?

Hi, i have some questions...

@ Me, I'm Counting - Ah, I see. Thank you.

@Itudios - This tool reads the GM Notes field, not the regular notes field.

The tool doesn't seem to work for me. It hasn't recognized notes on any of the objects I spawn in except for the original three sample squares that come with it.

That worked perfectly. :) Thanks!

@GameKnight try just removing the 'onClick' parameter for the x and G buttons, but leave the buttons themselves.

This is an excellent tool! Thanks for post it.
Can you tell me if there is a way to turn off the buttons "x" and "G" without breaking the mod? Those are two things I don't want to click accidentally. I don't need a button to delete the note, and don't want to do it by accident. And I have another mod that runs in the Global XML that this will stomp on if the G button is pressed by accident. When I just delete the buttons in the XML the card breaks. :( Any help would be appreciated!

First of all, thank you! This tool is quite simple to use and is a significant help. I was hoping to find a way to create an additional field in the context menus that would function exactly the same way the "Name" field does except have the contents be visible to only the GM. This tool does everything I was looking for except the contents of the "GM" field are not displayed to the GM when they hover their mouse over an object. If the contents of the additional field were to be displayed upon hovering over each object, much like the contents of the "Name" field are but for the GM only, it would help me keep the game running smoother. This tool seems perfect for storing more extensive notes than I had originally intended to keep though. If you know of a tool that will do what I was looking for or even just a way to hide the "Name" field and/or subsequent tool tip from everyone but the GM, please let me know. Thanks again for the very useful tool.
