Description
Welcome to Manic's Outremer Units - Adding mid and late game unit models for the Outremer culture. Proselytising by the sword has never looked so good!

Considering that, while a mostly French affair, the Crusader states saw pious Catholics from across Europe flock to their armies, I tried to add many different European culture's unit designs (slightly altered) to the mix to reflect this. Ultimately though the majority of the designs are heavily based on those of the French and Anglo-Norman armies of Philip Augustus and Richard the Lionheart respectively.

Despite Outremer essentially being 'French people in the Levant', this mod does NOT alter the French unit models. You can download the separate French units mod here

This custom unit pack should be fully compatible with any and all mods for Crusader Kings II, so long as they don't also edit units tied to the 'outremergfx' culture.

Want even more modded units? Or perhaps you're just the nosy type like me? Then I humbly suggest that you check out my other unit mods, located in the Manic's Units workshop collection.

For those experiencing issues with the Workshop, or otherwise wish to bypass it for whatever reason, you can download a file containing all of the Manic's Units mods and add-ons here[www.dropbox.com]. Simply place both the folder(s) and the .mod file(s) in your CK2 mod folder (Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\mod by default).

All of these mods are both Ironman & savegame compatible.

I used the Iberian heavy shield for late-game Heavy Inf simply for some added variety and to make the model look a bit more unique. If I used the shield from the late Heavy Cav, it would essentially be an unaltered English DLC heavy infantry model. Secondly, it was the only moderately historically accurate shield design I could find that also had the coat of arms printed on it. The Heavy Cav shield is too 'simplistic' (bare wood with no trim) while the Light Inf shield is blank (even though the DLC render implies otherwise).

But you can easily edit it yourself if you'd like. Simply open the mod's 'interface' folder and navigate to the char_outremergfx_late.gfx file (you can open it with any text editor such as Notepad) and navigate to the line that says name = "outremergfx_HEAVY_INFANTRY_shield_late" . Underneath, simply replace ibup_kiteshield.mesh with engup_heavy_infantry_shield.mesh and that should change it to the Heavy Cav shield.

Very nice, if there's one thing I personally would change is shield for late HI, don't You think it looks much worse than this one on HC or middle LI? Just graphically?

Hi there, I love all the work you’ve done. However I was playing as Outremer and loaded this mod into an existing save, with all the individual mods active and some models didn’t appear, pikemen shields of infantry and the heavy cavalry riders. I’ve checked with only this mod active and the problem still persists. I have also checked with the all in one mod and the models still don’t appear.
