Fjords of the Pacific Northwest

Description
17km x 34km, True Scale. Welcome to Douglas Channel, BC, Canada. This is a replica of an Area with many offbranching inlets from the main Fjord, close to the northern mouth of Devastation Channel. Map Size is Megalomaniac and it has lots of trees, you've been warned. There are zero real towns in the area, I put down 10 and gave them all some native namings, derived from Rivers, Lakes & Parks in the area. Be prepared to haul stuff over long distances and hard terrain. This is designed for a somwhat realistic game, with a bunch of long routes and less of super complex miniature city networks.
P.S.: If you want to follow Realism, do never connect the eastern-most water to the rest of the waters, that is Jesse Lake and it sits at a different alitude, which cannot be represented ingame.

If you appreciate it really much, consider leaving a dollar: https://www.patreon.com/posts/32347481

P.S.S.: The Terrain is height-coded for easier visual grasp:
>0 m: Forest
> 600 m: Thin Forest
> 800 m: Gravel with Gras
> 900 m: Barren Rockfield
> 1100 m: Snow

I would love this map if the mountains wouldn't look that ugly. :steamsad:

The best map I've ever played

This is awesome in so many regards, and allows for realistic gameplay! Love that the industries are placed realistically (manufacturing in or near towns, product chains located in close proximity but far away from final customer, raw materials in realistic locations). The size and terrain really captures the PNW, but of course it does because it's a real place to scale. Well done.

Fantastic map for the Glacier Express achievement. Reminds me of the Columbia Gorge and Oregon's winding shortlines. A fantastic challenge map.

SkyRex - How do you implement the Altitude-Filter for painting? I swear I saw that setting before, but now I can't find it

Love this map, great work! The Iron way up on the mountain is a nice challange, half the coal on the map on a dessolate island. Love custom maps that have realistic amount of resources/industry.

I like trying to play with some realism, no stupid long tunnels through the whole peninsula, take a train around it at/near sea level. Trucking Iron down from the mountain top to a meadow transfer station to a train, only using boats to cross the water not run up/down/across the whole map. (1975 start, cuz its my favorite era w/Diesel)

@skyrex, got it, i will try that, and thanks for the quick reply. Ohh and by the way, thanks for the beautiful map, it's exactly the type of map I love to play. I hate the ones with unrealistic amounts of towns and industries, and really no challenge to make money.

@Sonny: As it seems linked buildings only work like: Form of Transport <-> Factory/Consumer, not between Factories directly, so you'll have to setup a two meter transport line to link them.
Maybe that gets patched in future. But I didn't want to separate Fuel and Oil Refineries, as they are the very same thing in real life.
