I would love this map if the mountains wouldn't look that ugly. :steamsad:

The best map I've ever played

This is awesome in so many regards, and allows for realistic gameplay! Love that the industries are placed realistically (manufacturing in or near towns, product chains located in close proximity but far away from final customer, raw materials in realistic locations). The size and terrain really captures the PNW, but of course it does because it's a real place to scale. Well done.

Fantastic map for the Glacier Express achievement. Reminds me of the Columbia Gorge and Oregon's winding shortlines. A fantastic challenge map.

SkyRex - How do you implement the Altitude-Filter for painting? I swear I saw that setting before, but now I can't find it

This map is great!!!! If you are looking for a challenging map to play, download it.

Love this map, great work! The Iron way up on the mountain is a nice challange, half the coal on the map on a dessolate island. Love custom maps that have realistic amount of resources/industry.

I like trying to play with some realism, no stupid long tunnels through the whole peninsula, take a train around it at/near sea level. Trucking Iron down from the mountain top to a meadow transfer station to a train, only using boats to cross the water not run up/down/across the whole map. (1975 start, cuz its my favorite era w/Diesel)

@skyrex, got it, i will try that, and thanks for the quick reply. Ohh and by the way, thanks for the beautiful map, it's exactly the type of map I love to play. I hate the ones with unrealistic amounts of towns and industries, and really no challenge to make money.

@Sonny: As it seems linked buildings only work like: Form of Transport <-> Factory/Consumer, not between Factories directly, so you'll have to setup a two meter transport line to link them.
Maybe that gets patched in future. But I didn't want to separate Fuel and Oil Refineries, as they are the very same thing in real life.
Sonny Crocket 19 Dec, 2019 @ 12:35pm
I cannot get the 2 oil refineries to send oil to the fuel plant. I built one dock that is connected to all 3 plants (the 2 refineries and the fuel producing plant) so it should in theory allow the refinery to send refined oil to fuel plant, but nothing happens. I have 2 cities on a line that need fuel, tied to that dock, but nothing happens. Is it becuase they are too close together? I even tried adding another terminal to the dock, and set one for intake of from the oil well, and one for delivery of the fuel, but it still doesn't fix the issue.

Thx. Long hauling distances are more fun anways :)
SkyRex  [author] 18 Dec, 2019 @ 1:08pm
- In general no city wants something, that is nearby anyway.
- Some Cornfields painted for visuals
- Reduced trees in dense areas for reduced lag.
- Most cities have connection roads, if easily accessable.
- Wood Resource has forest access roads around them, for atmosphere
- exchanged all standard paved roads at factories for gravel roads. For an 1850 appropriate start.
- Overall larger cities on average. (more demand)

P.S. I found out, Aircraft dont want to fly above 800m. If your flight route goes through a mountain that is higher, the plane will crash straight into it... (still works mechanically). So for best visuals, avoid plane routes above 800m+ terrain.

Update released:
After some playing I found hard mode is quite easy once you can setup a very profitable Oil Line being loaded both ways. Too easy. So I revised the whole placement of everything. It's still 11 Cities, but totally new positions. All factories are balanced in number, you should exactly be able to upgrade everything to maximum, if you use all the resources. But now there is more long distance requirement. Exception being Wood, it's Canada after all.
- For Oil in particular, I cramped the refineries together, so you actually need to haul crude oil all the way, which is double the amount. Also the crude oil is far away. And no city on the path from crude oil wants fuel.

Wow that must have taken a wile to hand paint!

Cool map, I only hope they re-wrote the game code to allow longer transport distances, i know in the old game, it was like a max of 12 minutes per trip, after that it wouldn't make any money.

Time to import dynamic water model from Cities: Skylines to TPF2 lol. ;D Very nice Fjords. Weird there is never a Norway map for Transport Fever while Im thinking about it :D
Earl_of_Northesk 14 Dec, 2019 @ 12:05pm
Ah damn, thought you found a way to actually code it - I know it was possible in TF1, but I haven't found it again yet.
SkyRex  [author] 14 Dec, 2019 @ 9:34am
Two Notes:
- You might need to edit the settings files to enable 'Megalomaniac' Map Size. (experimental sizes)
- If you want the same fog distance as in the screenshots, you also need to edit a settings file next to the other one. I increased the fog distance from 7500 to 15000. WILL have even more performance impact, next to size and the gazillion trees.

Height Coding: I painted while having the Altitude-Filter Active. At least the initial draw and then worked up from there. Needs good eyes as painting in the dark green filter becomes a game of distinguishing shades of green
Earl_of_Northesk 14 Dec, 2019 @ 9:09am
How did you do the height-coding? I would love to do that on my maps as well, especially for snow!

Super!
