Korean democracy has been a long time coming. China is often talked about as having suffered a 'century of humiliation', from the Opium Wars to the founding of the People's Republic, but it could easily be argued that the same is true for the people of South Korea. It took about a hundred years, from the beginning of the growth of insidious Japanese influence on the peninsula, to the final toppling of the military dictatorship by free election in 1992. At the heart of the final struggle was a student protester named Kim Dae-Jung, who, after having spent most of the Park era either campaigning for democracy or suffering the consequences of such campaigning, led the now-honoured Gwangju Uprising, when for a few days the southwestern city became an independent democratic fortress. When the tanks rolled in, Kim was sentenced to death, but kept fighting, and was eventually rewarded by his people once democracy had finally been restored, becoming South Korea's second democratic president. In this world of failed uprisings, it is worth remembering that sometimes they succeed, and sometimes those thought to be doomed ultimately become national heroes after all.

When capturing and holding an enemy city, receive a population-dependent number of bonuses as the city progresses through Resistance, as well as a burst of Culture when the Resistance finishes.

A stronger Jet Fighter replacement. Civilisations that share South Korea's Ideology can also build KAI T-50s in their cities. South Korea's Capital receives an extra 1 Culture per turn for every KAI T-50 operated by someone other than themselves.

UB - HALLYU STATION

Replaces the Broadcast Tower. +1 Tourism in addition to the regular Culture bonuses. When the Great Work slot is filled, opposing units within five tiles of the Hallyu Station city receive a 15% combat penalty when attacking.
