Spawn Terminals

Description
Get into the fight quicker!
Spawn Terminals is a mod that lets you you put terminals into your world that players can use to purchase blueprinted ships instantly with SC. It lets you turn any ordinary connector blocks into the docks and pads of your shipyard!

It requires the Decorative Pack 1 DLC due to its use of the projector table. Though once placed in a world anyone can use it.

NB. currently does not work with wheeled vehicles.

Spawning a Ship
  1. Walk up to a terminal
  2. Click the Select Ship screen, or press F on it
  3. The blueprint finder will open, choose your blueprint. Wait.
  4. The ship blueprint / purchase screen will appear. Click Buy, or Cancel to select another ship.

The ship will appear on a connector pad, or an error message will be displayed. If the world is configured with a cost for grids, that cost will be deducted from your SC balance.

To get started

Here is an example station and world that has some small and large docks configured:

But setup is easy. To turn any connector into a dock, use the Make Spawn Zone button. This will turn the connector into a Spawn Zone and extra terminal controls will appear. Don't forget to give the connector a descriptive name, like DOCK A etc.



The most important setting is the orienation of the grids that will spawn in the zone. You can set this by clicking Edit Orientation, this will enter a mode where you can rotate this orientation marker using the block rotate controls (PGUP, PGN, HOME, END, INS, DEL). Press F when finished.

World config

There is an xml file that defines several options, hopefully these speak for themselves. It lives in the save game storage, eg %AppData%\\SpaceEngineers\Saves\<SaveGameName>\Storage\1958161003.sbm_GridSpawnSystem\Settings.xml

It looks like this:

Limitations

This will only spawn the same grid that a projector would project, the primary grid, and not any grids which are joined mechanically. This is a current limitation of the Mod API which will hopefully be able to be overcome in future.

Also, due to the above limitation, currently wheeled vehicles are not working and should not be purchasable.

This mod is unlisted because it is broken in "Warfare 2" and beyond.

It works in 1.199 "Heavy Industry" and below

the docks act like connectors and the spawn terminals act like normal console blocks, this mod doesn't show any function whatsoever. what's going on?

This mod used a bit of a workaround to open the blueprint screen and that is broken with changes Keen made in recent SE versions.

Until I can find another workaround i'm going to unpublish this mod

It just crashes my world everytime I try load a ship blueprint to buy.

Seems to just crash after exiting out the blueprint selector, I think warfare 2 has broke this Mod
because switching to an older version of Space engineers like the Heavy Industry update, the mod works fine, but with the recent update it just crashes when you exit out of the Blueprint Selector

Doesn't seem fixed to me xwx
