Countries currently with mission trees: Venetia, Bayt Allah, and Iskandaria

The Roman Empire struggled and failed to hold and maintain the Levant and Anatolia, and survive united until 1334. With no Byzantine Empire at its throat, the empowered Sassanids fought back the Islamic Caliphates and cultivated a massive realm for Manichaeism to grow, struggling against the rebellious remnants of the Pontic Empire and instead expanding towards India.

Meanwhile, the Roman Empire's intolerance towards Christianity creates an entirely new and hostile world for the Christians of Europe, and when they finally fell to the Turkic invasion, most of these new Italians shed their old Roman and Tengri Gods to convert to the rationalist sect of Alsababi Islam. The Germans meanwhile synthesize the traditions of their old Gods with the Hunnic-Gothic tradition into a more centralized model in reaction to the encroaching Romans in the 10th century, leaving the loosely organized but vast Kingdoms of Germania as an echo of their struggle. Can you manage to keep Christianity alive throughout this era of change?

Pretty much my goal for this mod was to make an extremely divergent but still plausible alt-history. Names, religions, legends, and cultures have evolved differently in more deep and nuanced ways than I find possible within the realm of possibility of the vanilla game experience, and I try to express this wherever possible. This is still in a fairly early stage of development but I can say fairly confidently it's starting to come into its own. Been such a blast building it and still got a long ways to go.

CREDIT:
-Extended timeline mod, I poached a lot of their religion stuff and some province localisation.
-AtlasTheTitan for being instrumental in the early success and cleanup of the mod!
-Slowpoke and their Inuit Model Improvement Mod for adding some much needed flair to the Inuit nations!
-Muscle Dog/Julius Caesar for help with provinces and events, such as the Croatian Settlement event chain!
-Pelior/Dracaric for helping with an absolute ton of flags, wealth of gameplay ideas, and being a great resource on Slavic etymology and Germanic history!
-Papa Smoke for being an insane help with religion, lore, design, flags, icons, and being an instrumental resource for Abrahamic theology!
-Big Juice for helping with a ton of leader names!
-Pascal for helping with Roman and Saxon history, flag help, and helping layout the Mediterranean update!
-Danwar for a lot of writing, helping with Roman Empire history, Armorica missions, & being incredibly helpful in the community!
-FearlesCriss for designing a Bayt Allah mission tree, a ton of culture shift events, and providing a wealth of other valuable feedback!
-Pagaes for designing the layouts for awesome upcoming mission trees for the Ut Dimissi, British minors, Bretony, & Alexandriyya!
-Master Yoda for providing some awesome help with Turkish etymology!

If I missed you or something you did and would like it credited or removed, please let me know.

And a special thanks to everyone else who is 1) really helping make this mod come alive and/or 2) helping me tie all the loose ends I inevitably forget and miss on the road of solo overhaul mod development. Y'all the MVPs. Though I really do appreciate every last one of you gamers diving into this extremely strange timeline.

I highly recommend using a flag banner mod in conjunction with this mod to improve the look of the flags, though it's ultimately a matter of preference.

@cam, that's great to hear mate. I'm gonna dive right in to the test build then and see how we go.

No worries, it's not abandoned, just in a very slow state of progress. I was just very ambitious with the next major update, and then life and work happened (and no more quarantine for developer time) as a consequence I'll only be updating the test build for a while until things have become cleaned up and stable. In the meantime, this version is an alternative for those willing to dive back into version 1.29. The test build, however, is on the latest version, and seems playable, at least until mid-to-late game - thankfully I personally can observe campaigns until game end without ever crashing so I'm hoping it's stabler than it seems.

hopefully you have had some luck in doing that

@Zeinken Yeah, I can't seem to fix the mod's stability. I've been coming back incrementally with bugfixes on the test build, but despite being able to play myself, people testing it consistently crash. Leviathan broke the mod's stability and Origins stack-wiped it I guess. And honestly I think the mod just needs a clean code re-write. I've learned a lot making the mod & all the art, content, ideas, and writing are still here, but I need to approach it more carefully.

Re-editing the codebase is going to be time consuming; I'm taking a break as it's disheartening to do little but bugfix for a year. But the next update honestly looks nothing like the 1.29 version - I want it working and released.

Hopefully once EU4 is done being worked on it'll be easier to get everything working too. The longer I'm not able to freely make content for this mod the longer my list of planned ideas gets. Once I'm done with these technical difficulties I should be working quickly again.
