Description

With this mod you can collect and layer soil over terrain (Heavy Affordance) such as sand or mountain rock allowing you to build greenhouses in your mountain base. Since they are layered if you change your mind about the location you can remove the soil to get back your original terrain. The floors themselves are under floors and grouped into a single button. They use vanilla fertility rates and textures so its not overpowered or unbalanced.

To build the soil floors you need soil. Soil can be purchased or dug up from appropriate terrain using the appropriate soil gathering spot from the production menu (they are grouped into a single button). Normal soil can be gotten from terrain with 100% fertility while rich soil can only be gotten from rich soil. Gathering soil uses production bills and is a crafting job which uses the crafting spot workgiver.

Fertilizer can be used to enrich soil to make it a higher tier. Enriching soil can be done at a crafting spot or a soil gathering spot. Fertilizer can be purchased or created at a biofuel refinery, crafting spot or soil gathering spot using veggie, hay, wood or Biosolids (Dubs Bad Hygiene).

Mod Settings

The mod settings require XML Extensions and can be found alongside others in the mod setting section. All mod settings are off by default.

The mod settings allow you to individually enable options for for making Hydroponics, Plant Pots and Planter Boxes (VFE Farming) require appropriate soil to build.

Mod Interaction

If Dubs Bad Hygiene is loaded biosolids can be used in the recipe to create fertilizer.

If Let's Trade is loaded Farming traders will carry Fertilizer and Soil.

Soil should be gatherable from all mod added terrains. Fertility 0.6 to 0.9 yields Stony Soil, Fertility 1.0 to 1.3 yields Normal Soil, Fertility 1.4 and above yields Rich Soil.

The Dubs Bad Hygiene patch uses LoadFolders so it should only be loaded when the mod is. If you post the error you're getting I'll look into it and fix it.

Mind using a conditional for the dubs bad hygiene patch to avoid errors? I know I can just delete it but it would prob be best in the long run

Works on Gravship, you can make a green house, farm, even a barn.

Definitely some other mod then, I don't have many floor mods. Thank you, I'll look into it

@Essence
It works fine for me with my mod list and considering its using the vanilla drop down grouping system there shouldn't be an issue. If you aren't simply losing sight of it in the mass of floors then you might have a mod that's causing problems with the drop down grouping system.

When I switch from stony soil (default) to normal soil in Floors menu, the option to select it disappears until I reload.

Thank you for the quick answer! Nice to know!

I have hard edges enabled by default since its intended to be used in indoor areas like greenhouses and the blending makes it look quite ugly. However with XML Extensions there is a mod setting to change it to soft edges so it blends together with other terrains.

can you do something about the 'hard edges' when laying out the soil?
