Just tested this, it is mandatory. You may just edit the about xml to 1.2 and the folder from 1.1 to 1.2 thats it

Without this installed i don't get any button inside the Prepare Carefully menu, only before. Why is this labeled as obsolete when it's still clearly needed?

The face change button doesn't work, nothing happens when you click it, does anyone know how to fix it?

Wanted to add in to the people that had problems with the error "Requires invalid.package.id". This is related to using the Mod Manager plugin as TJ alluded to previously. It has to do with how the mod manager parses "Dependencies" to other mods and something goes wrong here.

A "dirty" fix is to open the mod folder for Facial Stuff PrepC Patch. Find the "About" folder, then open the "Manifest.xml" file in you favorite text editor. Find the section named "<dependencies>stuff here</dependencies>" and delete that entire section.
Of course you still have to make sure that the load order is correct and that both Prep Carefully and Facial Stuff are loaded, but at least it stops the Mod Manager from complaining about this issue.

Personally I found that I could do the facial customization of each pawn before pressing the "Prepare carefully" button, and thus I opted to actually remove this mod as I do not need the functionality that it provides.
