A.R.E.S Heavy Gunship (outdated)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fast, heavily armed and armored warship. Uses several large gravity drives

No mods used, scripts required for turrets and nacelles (ship can work without, but not as well)

The ship works best with 2 Co-Pilots, one commanding each nacelle. This is because gravity drives cannot be controlled if they are on subgrids. The 2 nacelles can still be used without co-pilots, they will only function as inertia dampeners in this setup.

the damage output of the ship can also be increased with the addition of 2 gunners for a total crew of 5, with each gunner commanding the port and starboard gatling turrets (because turrets have a hard time tracking when the ship is rapidly changing direction).

The main gravity drive has been reduced to almost minimum power, this can be increased by extending the ranges of the gravity generators under block group "forward-reverse". This will generate extremely large forces, and will prevent the ship from moving sideways when active. however, extending these ranges will also cause severe lag. (this is mostly done for ramming or dodging projectiles)

As seen in the last picture, the ship can ram straight through asteroids, and practically everything else. But because the main reactor was very prone to failiure when going deep into asteroids, several backup batteries have been added for maximum penetration.

8699 Blocks
98,839 PCU

Basic Instructions
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Block groups "thruster 1" and "forward-reverse" are for controlling the main gravity drive
Timer Blocks "Dampeners OFF", "Dampeners ON", and Programmable Block "Vectored Thrust" are for activating nacelles. The nacelles must be activated for Co-Pilots to be able to controll their nacelle. (spotlights on rear of nacelle will be on when the entire thing is on)

Do not toggle spotlights, this will mess with the decorative spotlights on the gravity drive.

so 2 copilots are needed for both nacelles

the remote controlls on the co-pilot cockpits allow you to controll 1 of the 2 nacelles, but they must be on for them to respond

and the turrets work as normal ai turrets too, so they are not directly controllable, you can controll the designator turrets to indirectly controll them tho

do you have scripts enabled? if you do and it still doesnt work, look up programmable blocks, turn them on, hit recompile and then run

super interesting, i can't believe it only moves with gravity generators, great job
for some reason i wasn't able to control any turrets though, when i spawned it into my single player world
i got into each co-pilot cockpit and it had the remote button but when pressed, nothing happens

actually, the main gdrive of this ship is controlled manually rather than with scripts

yeah, a gravity drive is perfectly operable without scripts, though scripts make it simpler to use

wow, i guess i need to try it

will all if it's functions work without scripts? like on a vanilla multiplayer server?

yes, artificial mass blocks respond to the fields produced by gravity generators, so a combination of both produces a force, whats cool about this is that gravity generator-mass block setups will increase they produce when near other setups, because the mass blocks are accelerated by the combined fields of all nearby generators. so the force produced increases exponentially with increases in the size of the gravity drive, the lag does too, which is why the range of the gravity fields has been reduced on the ship. but if you increase these ranges, the fields from all the generators will overlap on every single mass block, which produces billions of newtons of thrust, enough to instantly accelerate the ship and push it through anything, despite it having a mass of around 17,000 tons

woah wait what??? how the hell? the gravity drive can push a ship?
