Geyser Cooker

Description
Background

Early man looked at the jet of steam rising upwards, felt the warmth of the water droplets and stared at the pool of almost boiling water by his feet.

Then he turned around and ate his raw meat because he could not cook it without wood. Then he got crippled by food poisoning on the next day and died of heatstroke a few hours later because he could not vent out the hot air accumulating in his makeshift shelter.

In his last breath, Darky cursed the nature deities for being unable to cook his meal in that boiling water.

Description

This mod was created to prevent similar fates in extreme biome runs. It allows your pawns to pool hot water from a steam geyser to cook raw food into a simple meal.

For balancing purposes, this cooking surface takes much longer than a campfire to cook a meal (about 3x longer) and also forces you to settle near steam geysers, where said cookers can be built on. Since it cannot produce temperatures above boiling temperature, it cannot be used to burn things nor cook more extravagant stuff than simple meals.

Differently from FlashPoint/고프니's Geyser Cooking station mod, the building is not unlocked through research. The reason behind this is that all new arrivals/tribes already know how to make a campfire, thus they already know the principles of boiling food to make it more palatable and safe. They just need to find a suitable source of heat to at least try to cook something.

This doesn't modify any Defs, so it shouldn't clash with anything else.

It is meant to be obsolete once you can at least use a fueled stove. It was designed to be used for early game when a single food poisoning can get your pawn killed.

While useful very early on, it quickly becomes obsolete. Could you include bulk cooking and turn down the cooking time to 2x normal?

what if it was a 4x4, with only the center tiles usable, like how the steam generator works?
Rotating should still make it stay centered? using the

tag should make it need all 4 tiles I think?

In case anyone had very weird, seemingly unrelated errors recently: this might have happened because I've uploaded another mod but using the same Steam workshop id because of copypasta, so the contents of this mod were temporarily overwritten with the contents of another mod.

Mod sources should be back to normal.

This is a limitation that comes with how geysers and rotations are implemented. Geysers are 2x2 entities, but only the bottom-left tile actually counts as a geyser, so if the geyser cooker is rotated, it would be possible to place the building without covering the whole vent because the interaction spot also counts as a tile for rotation purposes, effectively making the building 3x2 and offsetting its "center".

An alternative could be to make 4 different versions of the same cooker with different rotations, but I don't think I'll spend effort doing that unless there are more people requesting it.
