Compact 6-Passenger Transport

Description
UPDATE: I think I've finished tweaking this ship. PID has been fully tuned, and I've repositioned the stabilizers to help avoid getting hung up on obstacles. I've also raised the maximum RPS to 30.

Compact, but does the job. This is my first foray into this wonderful game, so please let me know if you have any opinions!

The fueling port is on the port side near the waterline. The release button is on the starboard side of the dash, under the fuel quantity display. This is the only component directly connected to the battery, so you can release the fuel line without enabling the electrics.

Use the autothrottle! It's awesome! The default RPS target is 8, which is apparently the best fuel economy. Range is 0-30, see below for details. Don't forget to turn off the gear reduction once you're up to speed.

Basic Functionality
  • No research-unlocked parts, available from the start of a new survival game.
  • Full gauge set, suitable for first-person control.
  • Underwater lights to assist in returning from dives.
  • 6 passenger seats (+ control seat).
  • Stabilizers (non-adjustable), so despite the small size it doesn't flop around on you, even in turns. Stable up to 14kn in calm waters, though I recommend you keep it under 10kn. (including for reference, craft doesn't have a speed sensor)
  • Gear-reduction toggle, useful for low-speed operation or helping avoid stalls. It's on by default. Gearbox is set to 3:2, but feel free to change.

Extended Functionality
  • Automatic thrust reversal (clutch axis is bipolar with middle of axis null clutch pressure).
  • Low-fuel warning indication (adjustable via slider in editor, no need to edit the logic). I've not put this on the workshop, but feel free to yank it out of this ship.
  • Adjustable autothrottle. The autothrottle will not reduce the throttle below 7% even if you set the RPS to 0. If you want to shut the engine down, set your manual throttle to 0 and disengage autothrottle.

Special note about the throttle gauges: the (M) throttle is what you've set with your throttle axis. This is only used if autothrottle is disengaged. When it is disengaged, you'll note that the (A) throttle matches (though the numbers don't) - as I'm normalizing the throttle range from [-1,1] to [0,1]. When autothrottle is engaged, the two gauges are independent.

Dashboard Description
Everything is named, but here it is so you can see it from the workshop. Refer to the pilot's view screenshot. I will describe everything left-to-right, row by row like reading a book.
  • Engine RPS
  • Pilot's throttle position
  • Actual throttle position (see: autothrottle)
  • Engine temperature warning (90+)
  • Rudder position
  • Low Fuel warning light (default 200, check the fuel quantity microcontroller's "bingo" slider in the aft to change)
  • Clutch position (center = neutral, full left = full reverse, full right = full forward)
  • Battery level
  • Fuel flow (Liters/minute)
  • Ignition switch (hotkey 5)
  • Autothrottle RPS target adjust UP (hotkey 2)
  • Autothrottle engage/bypass switch (hotkey 4)
  • Engine Temperature
  • Fuel Quantity
  • Exterior lights switch
  • Instrument lights switch
  • Fuel hose release switch
  • Autothrottle RPS target adjust DOWN (hotkey 1)
  • Reduction gear switch (hotkey 3)
  • Electrical breaker

Axis Controls
  • W/S: Clutch up/down (sticky)
  • A/D: Rudder left/right (sticky)
  • Up/Down: Throttle up/down (sticky; ignored if autothrottle on)
