Type VIIC U-boat (U-557)

Description
Spent a lot of time making this. Most of that time was spent tweaking. Yes it's not perfect but I would have to spend a lot more time tweaking even more stuff.

Yes. I know the interior is somewhat advanced for a ww2 uboat and not entirely accurate but I wanted it to be more functional and easier to use than a traditional multi-crew uboat.

How to use:
- Turn on main battery.
To Drive using diesel: Turn on main engine systems (i.e. Fuel pumps, Diesel ignition) and use ignition key. Throttle up.
To Drive using electric: Turn off all diesel-related systems. Turn on electric main and electric ignition key. Keep throttle low unless you want to run out of drive battery very quickly (0.10-0.20 recommended).
To Dive under: Push fill ballasts button (it is finished when alarm stops). Use Depth AP (USE NEGATIVE NUMBER!) to dive and toggle the Depth AP button.
To Surface: Toggle Empty Ballasts button and wait (you can use depth AP to surface without emptying ballasts if low on battery).

Notes:
-Obviously, keep Air Intake above water in order for engines to run, use electric if below water.
-Torpedoes are definitely a WIP and just fire for now. Once you turn the key you have a few seconds until the motor kicks in.
-Depth AP is a bit jumpy once you're at the desired depth. I know this and just don't have time to perfect a PID to fix it.
-Gearing needs to be adjusted some. It does automatically downshift below a certain depth to help with drag but its not perfect.
-I mainly upload things to the workshop to backup my builds but I make it public for anyone to use.
-I honestly can't even be bothered to take good screenshots and upload them since this is mainly for personal use, but the default one doesn't do it much justice - it looks fantastic in-game.

I spent a lot of time on this and as far as I'm aware its the easiest-to-use and most accurate (externally) u-boat on the workshop. It's a lot of fun and I had a lot of fun making it. Enjoy!

Yeah tbh the torpedos are mainly for show. They work but don't work too well. I can't remember what exactly was in the microcontroller but if there is some sort of depth hold you should be able to easily edit it and increase the altitude. So if its set to say -3 change it to -1 or -0.5 or something.

Not sure if youre still active but do you know if theres a way to trim the fins on the torpedo within your micro controller? the torperdos work awesome but sink to a low depth.

also
yesterday i wached das boot and i found out that there are not enuf beds cause submarine like this carries 44 to 50 crewmembers also there are rooms short

Theres a generator control to the far left of the control panel. Obviously you must be surfaced to use it.

question
how do you recharge the electric engines
every submarine uses the diesel engine or a generator to recharge the engines

Yes but it would be a lot more difficult and time consuming to make them in stormworks.

As for making them functional for what works? You could fit more stuff in with the IRL ballast layout.

I mean I wasnt going for realism with how the ballasts are laid out, just making them functional with what works in Stormworks. If the uboat goes up and down, I'm happy lol.

Also, mann, I considered making a newer submarine like that, would be cool. There is a lot of similar nuclear subs on the workshop that are really good already, however. Keep your eyes open though.

Hey could you make the Type 212A Used in the Bundesmarine.
