A pack of 170 compatible War of the Chosen mods for players who haven't played XCOM 2/WotC before, or are returning to the game after a long hiatus!

This collection strives to enhance the game while preserving the spirit of the vanilla WotC campaign. It is mostly, but not entirely, a subset of Shingen's Ultimate Collection, who deserves huge credit for their work. However, their mod collection is not targeted at new players and it's easy to install mods that make the game exponentially more difficult, radically change it from the vanilla experience, or break your immersion with weird cosmetics. So I created this collection, which is what I used after having to restart halfway through a campaign where I installed a lot of mods from Shingen's collection that weren't good for a new player experience.

This collection contains just a handful of mods; the rest are broken up into into the following categories in separate linked collections. In the linked collections I've broken out the mods by category--eg. game mods that add enemies vs. adding new tactical layer mechanics--so it's easy for you to pick and choose a subset of mods you want to install as well!

This collection focuses on general improvements to the gameplay of WotC while avoiding mods that do the following:

• Dramatically increase or decrease the difficulty (eg. A Better Advent which is so tough it suggests you play one difficulty level lower than you're used to)
  
• Add particularly difficult new enemies (eg. Children of the King)
  
• Dramatically change the strategy layer economy (ex. the Black Market Trades Intel mod)
  
• Allow you to customize things you aren't even familiar with yet if you haven't played the vanilla game (eg. DLC2 Abilities Remastered)
  
• Introduce highly complex new items to a game that's already overwhelming for new and long-lapsed players

This collection includes both quality-of-life style UI fixes, and UI updates that make the information you need to play the game easier to find.
