Theseus Class Starcruiser

Description
Theseus class - Starcruiser (No Mods)

-----------------------------------------------------

-=Manufacturer's Notes=-

Created by Terra Nova Starworks as the first class of a new generation of system defence vessels requested by the Colonial Defence Forces, and later the Terran Space Force, in order to provide security throughout the 82G Eridani and Tau Ceti star systems.

This new generation of combat capable spacecraft are slightly larger and heavier than the class of vessels that the Corporations and Martian Navy refer to as Cruisers, but not quite as heavy as some of the Heavy Cruisers that they currently have in service.
With the Terran move away from wet-Navy terminology and back to old Earth Space Force naming conventions, this new class of system defence vessel has been designated as a Starcruiser based on the fact that it's a Jump-capable (thus interstellar) Guided-Missile Kinetistar that's larger than the Gunstar system patrol vessels but smaller than a system control vessel known as a Battlestar.

As with the other Starcruisers being built by Terra Nova Starworks, the Theseus has both Ion and Hydrogen thrusters for propulsion, a double hull design with heavy armour reinforcing specific points on the spacecraft to improve survivability and is equipped with modular weapon mounts, including two pylons for various types of guided missiles and two heavy weapon turrets.
Short range defences come in the form of a variety of 25mm Gatling turrets, artillery turrets and 200mm missile turret emplacements, as well as eight Firestorm Mk I multi-barrel point defence turrets that use the powerful Diamond Dome Defence software in order to track and engage any incoming threats with deadly accuracy.

The Theseus class of Starcruiser is the original hull from which the Asterion and Atalanta are derived, but unlike the others it is only designed to operate in the vacuum of deep space and not in a planet's atmosphere and although it is capable of entering the gravity well of a moon, it cannot land on one and must rely on shuttles to ferry cargo and personnel to and from a planet's surface.

*Author's Notes*
I've released this vessel and the other Starcruisers as a special gift to all my amazing viewers and subscribers, as it gives them something to mess around with while we're all being forced to self-isolate during the COVID-19 Quarantine.
I had planned on having at least one of the Starcruisers feature in the final few episodes of Into the Unknown, but sadly I wasn't able to finish them in time due to other commitments (By the series epilogue, all that was complete was the front section and half the Living Quarters).

Heavily inspired by works including the Donnager from the Expanse series, The Hyperion Cruiser from Babylon 5, The Chogun Maxwell/Montero by Dolan, and several of the ships made by Malmhrid and Aragath.

Those default vanilla Heavy Turrets are just placeholders similar to the ones used on the Odysseus Light Cruiser and TNF Agitator by Malmhrid and are mainly for people that don't like to use mods, I've personally swapped them for Whip's Large Railgun Turrets. (Hence the two large reactors).

The self-repair projector is located in the cargo bay, but can be toggled on/off from the C.I.C, so too can the projectors for the 'fake' radiator panels - they're just for aesthetics at the moment as Space Engineers doesn't have heat management in-game, but at least we have something resembling them for all you fellow hard sci-fi fans out there.

I've left the hangar empty so that you can add your own small craft to it, it can comfortably fit an Olympus 207/MS-10 Griffin, plus the Keen default Blue Miner and Constructor, that along with the fact that it comes with an assembler and refinery means you're pretty much self-sufficient right out of the box!

A huge shout out to Malmhrid, Dolan and Aragath, as I've pretty much borrowed a lot of their ideas while making these Starcruisers, mainly to try and make these blend in alongside their own creations as much as possible... Why?... Because I feel those content creators currently make the most realistic ships available in-game and on the workshop i.e. they're not overly sci-fantasy or suffer from the 'space is an ocean' trope like a lot of the others, which is probably why I used their ships so much in my Space Engineers series - so once again, many thanks to all you guys!!

No problem at all.

I always check all the notifications on my old creations just in case someone is reporting that one of them is no longer working, as even though they're quite old I do still try to make an effort to keep them working with the current version of the game.

My sincere apologies, Captain. I didn't mean to cause an inconvenience or make myself look oblivious/foolish. The only reason I mentioned it is because I'm an enormous fan of these ships, because they're more sophisticated than the vessels I've designed. I've even used these ships a lot during some of my playthroughs.

Rest assured, it was not my intention to necro this post. It was an observation, nothing more. I give you my word, it won't happen again.

Sean, why do you keep necroing these old posts? This creation is more than four years old now.

The issues you've highlighted are probably something to do with the fact that this particular line of spacecraft were created for the version of Space Engineers from back in 2019 but only released on the steam workshop in May 2020 near the beginning of the pandemic, mainly as a gift to all my followers and subscribers.

The Warfare 2 weapons such as the railgun 'etc' came out in 2022 a whole 2 years later, along with exploding hydrogen tanks and cargo containers carrying ammo 'etc'.

This was made back in the days when gatling turrets and rocket launchers were the only weapons in vanilla Space Engineers and where heavy armour blocks and a double hulled design was more than adequate defence.

Saying that though, redesigning the aft section yourself to add another layer of heavy armour is certainly doable if you still want to use this old spacecraft.

Honestly, all of the Starcruisers are incredible designs. The one thing I did notice in every ship is the Hydrogen Tanks. I say this because I tested one of my own creations against each of the Starcruisers, and I found that the Hydrogen Tanks are more exposed and vulnerable, especially to direct railgun hits. I just figured I'd share this for future references. Other than that, I love these ships and will always be my favorites.

Upgraded with warfare 2 weapons and newer guided missile scripts, thanks to Whiplash141.
