Description
Price: 25,000 mk || Tier 3

Fresh out of Shi Jie Shipyards, the Exathra is a submarine built for dangerous deep sea retrieval missions. Boasting an offensive armament of 4 Coil Guns, 3 Rail Guns and a Depth Charge Tube. There are 3 shuttles available to ferry dive teams to locations that are hard to reach. The rear shuttle hangar is protected by a Deathfield which can be activated from the Navigation Terminal. The forward shuttle doubles as an airlock while attached and can operate independently for extended periods.

This is the first sub I've created from scratch. I have since done a considerable rework of the front end and designed a new mini sub for it.

Features:

  • Security Cameras
Can be viewed from the navigation terminal. The left allows you to see the engine room/rear diving prep area as well as most of the docking hallway. The centre shows the exterior of the rear hangar area. The right shows the top level of the sub.
  • Deathfield
Can be toggled on/off from the navigation terminal's control screen. Useful for when aliens get into the rear hangar. It is powered by three batteries in the electrical room. The recharge settings will change how long it can be active for. Upgrading battery capacity will allow it to be active for longer.
  • Motion Sensor Doors
Can be disabled/enabled using the button next to the command area. *note Airlock doors, hatches, cargo, and security doors are not motion activated
  • Backup Power Batteries
Powers the coilguns, ballast, engines, navigation terminal, shuttle navigation terminal, artifact deconstructor, and oxygen generator. Turned on/off from the navigation terminal's control screen.
  • Drainage System
Can be toggled from the navigation terminal control screen. This can be used to drain the ship if the reactor is down, or just to speed up drainage in general.
  • Depth Charge Station
The depth charge tube is lined up approximately with the left vertical edge of the forward shuttle docking bay
  • Artifact Deconstructor
Situated in the rear airlock, it can be flooded to safely deconstruct thermal artifacts
  • Powered Docking
The sub receives power from the primary docking port. When docked to stations the reactor can be shutdown to reserve fuel. Systems that are powered from the docking port are: Batteries(backup and deathfield), oxygen generator, fabricators/deconstructors, central access shaft pumps, engineering's status monitor, and the lights for engineering and medical.
  • Additional status monitors in different sections of the ship

There are also three shuttles that the ship comes with, one unmanned and two manned. The smaller two shuttles (Minuete Drone and Strelsova) have docking clamps on the top so they can be picked up and ferried back to the main sub. The Takari is best for this task but can struggle depending on how much water is in the shuttle that is being picked up.

  1. Minuete Drone
Unmanned support drone, can recon hard to reach locations and ferry supplies and dive teams to/from them, has an artifact holder on the left side for safe acquisition along with a healthy cache of diving supplies inside. Two top mounted turrets give it a wide range of fire, and are swapped back and forth by a button near their periscope. There is also a discharge coil mounted on the left side that can be fired from the shuttle's navigation terminal.

  2. Streltsova
Manned attack craft, with high mobility and rate of fire. Great for navigating into tight spaces thanks to the front view port. It can transport a dive team to and from locations that the main sub cannot reach. Features a on/off button to conserve battery power during away missions. Outfitted with a top right and bottom left coilgun that you can swap between using the button in the command cabin. In the event of aliens getting to close for comfort there is a discharge coil that can be activated from the navigation terminal.

  3. Takari
Light transport shuttle, with good mobility and excellent battery life. While attached to the main sub it acts as a forward airlock for diving operations. Thanks to its supply cache, oxygen generator, and great longevity it can serve as a base of operations away from the main sub for extended periods. It is armed with two coilguns on the upper right and lower left side that provide excellent coverage and two discharge coils for anything that makes it past the guns. It is also equipped with a depth charge tube which can be loaded from the forward ballasts. Stealth mode can be activated from a button in the command room, this will deactivate all lights on the shuttle's exterior, close off the forward viewport, and set the engine's max output to 20%.

Big shout-out to SovietWolf who helped with planning and testing the sub and big thanks to Deldrik who also helped a bunch with testing!

Hope you all enjoy and please post any issues you run into!

KNOWN ISSUES
  • If the rear mini subs are replaced using the "Replace Lost Shuttles" option from the campaign menu, one will spawn in the ship and become unusable. I'm not yet sure how to fix that, so I would advise recovering them whenever possible during a campaign run.

started a sandbox lobby to try it out and the streltsova constantly floods through the front view port. status monitor says the whole front is breached, but nothing is damaged when i hit it with the welding tool. bots set to fix leaks can leave the doors open and very quickly flood have the sub. havent spent much time in the sub editor so couldnt figure out how to load it and look at it myself. very cool sub otherwise.
small unrelated gripe, if the diving suit lockers and oxygen tank shelves could be connected to the grid in a future update that would be super cool.

Thanks to everybody who rated and helped get the sub out of the no star club! :captainsmooth:

Thanks for the feedback. This was the first sub I made and originally designed it to be used with a group of people for multiplayer. I did setup the waypoints so bots can use the sub as well, but the brig (by design) does require player intervention to fix hull breaches due to the locking system. When I eventually come back to this sub I may look at designing a specific single player version, with fewer shuttles but for now I'm going to keep it as is.

Sorry, but your sub is unusable on single player. Any damage to the bottom fore of the sub will cause the bot mechanics to run around in the ballast trying in vain to reach it. I suggest making a direct road or tweaking your waypoints. Too bad, because the sub has a lot of potential. I would suggest making it easier to navigate inside and losing those useless shuttles.

@MyNameIsSam The override button is for the "blast door" that will close over the front glass if it starts to leak. It's so you can easily repair the glass from inside.

in the takari what does the overide button do?

Ok no worries then. Thanks for getting back to me.

Ah, the shuttles don't have auto doors, it is only a feature of the main ship which may make it seem like they aren't registering you. I also wanted to keep them this way to make it easier to know when you were stepping "off" the ship and onto a shuttle. If you are playing on a server I know that the auto doors can be a bit weird for their timing, I don't think I can fix this as I'm pretty sure it is a latency issue.
Zydrate 25 Feb, 2021 @ 12:43am
Thank you. The shuttle doors were a little weird. Idk if it was my latency but the auto doors seemed to "skip" i guess the word would be. Like id walk up to them and theyd seem to open, close, open, before itd let me in.

I updated all of my subs for the cave update when it came out, looks like I missed some stuff :p The auto doors will all disable when you press the button now. I had the nav terminal only wired to a battery and not the grid itself which was preventing you from piloting the ship, it's fixed now! Thank you for letting me know about these :captainsmooth:
