Due to prefabs used to set default values to in-game items, many cosmetics over the years have been added to the game use default backpack sounds/itemtypes. If you have wondered why a shirt item from 2019 you equipped made a loud thud noise when selecting it, rather than a cloth noise similar older cosmetics use, this is why.

Using cosmetics from 2009-2012 as reference, I have painstakingly gone through each cosmetic item in the year 2019 to find better fitting sound/itemtype combinations for cosmetics, while also enforcing consistency and uniformity across several types.

FOR TF TEAM:
A modified copy of items_game.txt is found in the folder submitted, as well as a readme with a complete changelog and misc. notes. A quick reference sheet is also included for quick implementation to the current schema.

CHANGELOG:
Winter 2019 (Smissmas 2019):
* Added "Helmet" pickup/drop noise to Public Speaker and Spiky Viking.
* The following items were given hat_pickup for BOTH pickup/drop:
- Provisions Cap
- Telefragger Toque
- Pocket-Medes
- Missing Piece
- Bumble Beenie
- Gingerbread Mann
- Glittering Garland
- Winter Wrap Up
- Smissmas Saxton
- Candy Crown
- Pebbles the Penguin

* Citizen Cane was given item_default pickup and drop sounds.
* The Mislaid Sweater was given item_hat_pickup and item_hat_drop for pickup/drop respectively.
* Globetrotter was given bottle pickup/drop items for both respective events.
* Yule Hog was given item_gooey sounds for pickup/drop.
* Spiky Viking item type was changed to #TF_Wearable_Helmet (from Hat) upon original contributor DatGmann's request.
* Globetrotter itemtype was changed to #TF_Wearable_Snowglobe (from Hat).

Halloween 2019 (Scream Fortress 2019):
* The following items were given hat_pickup for BOTH pickup/drop:
- Remorseless Raptor
- Wild Whip
- El Zapateador
- Soviet Strongmann
- Racc Mann
- Skullbrero
- Convict Cap
- Madmann's Muzzle
- Voodoo Vizier
- Trick Stabber
- Mister Bones
- Pocket Halloween Boss
- Avian Amante
- Eingineer

* Bird Head items were given the Bird Head itemtype (originally Costume Piece).
* The following items were given hat_pickup and hat_drop for pickup/drop respectively:
- Party Poncho
- Derangement Garment

* The following items were given item_gooey noises for pickup/drop:
- Elizabeth the Third
- Pyro Shark
- Bread Biter
- Pyr'o Lantern (as requested by original contributor Square)

* Candy Cranium was given item_cardboard pickup and drop noises for pickup/drop respectively.
* Candy Cranium item type was changed from "Costume Piece" to "Mask"
* Head of the Dead was changed from "Costume Piece" item type to "Mask" itemtype (Requested by original contributor NeoDement).
* Pyr'o Lantern was changed from "Costume Piece" item type to "Mask" itemtype (Requested by original contributor Square).

Summer 2019:
* The following items were given hat_pickup for BOTH pickup/drop:
- Bottle Cap
- Speedy Scoundrel
- Unforgiven Glory
- Bare Necessities
- Shutterbug
- Stapler's Specs
- Fiery Phoenix

* The following items were given hat_pickup and hat_drop for pickup/drop respectively:
- Pompous Privateer
- Wanderer's Wear
- Dynamite Abs
- Kapitan's Kaftan
- Wagga Wagga Wear

* The following items were given item_gooey noises for pickup/drop:
- Melted Mop

* The following items were given the item_helmet pickup/drop noises:
- Peacebreaker
- Backbreaker's Skullcracker
- Backbreaker's Guards
- Texas Toast
- Bobby Bonnet

* The Spawn Camper was given item_bag noises for pickup/drop.
* The Brain Interface was given item_robot_arm pickup/drop noises. Itemtype was also changed to #TF_Wearable_Augmentation (Cosmetic Augmentation).
* The Peacebreaker item type was changed from hat to #TF_Wearable_Helmet.

Some reasoning used on the more unique changes:
- Some pet items were given the item_gooey sound due to it being assigned to the Pocket Purrer (Fall 2012) by Valve.
- Hats from 2009-2011 mostly use the hat_pickup sound for both pickup/drop unless it is made of a non-cloth material.
- Shirts were given hat_pickup and hat_drop noises to simulate cloth, while also distinguishing it from the hat items in one's inventory.
- Most pocket items/small articles of clothing from 2009-2011 use the hat_pickup noise for both pickup and drop, which is more accurate than the default misc noises defined in the prefab.
- Pyro head replacements were given the "Mask" item type to have uniformity with similar items from previous years.
