Dangerous Crystalline Asteroids

Description
Even with the introduction of the Leviathans DLC, space fauna has rarely been a threat in vanilla Stellaris. However, when the Curators are asked about the Asteroid Hivers, they inform players that they were once a galactic menace that was a nuisance to even the advanced empires in ancient times. This mod asks "What if the Crystalline Asteroids became a galactic threat again?"

Features:
The Hives and their Strikecraft have been strengthened considerably, mainly receiving the ability to regenerate and attack at any distance. With each Hive being roughly on-par with a Titan, it will take much more effort to dislodge them from their homes. And there is now extra incentive to take their system; building a mining station over one of the asteroids may reveal extra energy, alloy, crystal, or mote deposits.

With their newfound regeneration abilities, the Hivers are now able to spread between belts and create new Hives in a timely manner. Should the entire asteroid belt be taken over, they will pour into the rest of the system--"infesting" it if you will--disrupting sensors and making travel even more difficult. Even cloaking isn't safe, as the sheer amount of creatures in the system may end up with your fleets bumping into some and alerting the rest.

Should the Hivers have nowhere else to go in their home system, they will make places to go. Their regenerative abilities make voyages into Subspace viable enough, meaning that the Hivers WILL spread into other systems if not regularly culled. To make matters worse, Hives themselves are now semi-living and will contribute to their spreading efforts, allowing more systems to be invaded at once.

Worse still, whatever has caused their rapid changes didn't "install an off-switch", so there are plenty more changes to come after they wake up.

IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ;
While this mod doesn't overwrite any files, it does overwrite certain events and ships. Measures have been taken so that the files aren't overwritten, but it is still recommended that you allow this mod to overwrite anything that changes Leviathans and Leviathan events.

This mod does make changes to the system_blocks_sensors game rule, however it is recommended that any other mod changing this rule overwrites this one. Otherwise, only certain vanilla systems/storms and Hiver systems will block sensors instead of any other modded content.

Hosts now get a configuration menu on game start which allows them to customize their experience somewhat and allow the force-spawning of the Hiver system. It is recommended you view all the settings for what it is possible to change, as well as viewing the "My Story" section if you wish to guarantee that the Hivers are present in your game. Also, please be aware that the Evolution and Story sections of the mod are still being worked on--Mobile Hives, Megastructures, and most of the story is currently unimplemented.

still hoping this mod gets a update. Especially because the new space creatures added such as the cuttalloids and the void worms do help make the galaxy feel much more lively. but i always remember this mod way back when. @Obscuris thanks all the same.

Sorry to say I had to remove your mod because it was causing the small red laser in the NSC2 mod to register an average damage of 1K.

ship selection crashes 3.2

The next update will include a way to forcibly spawn them in non-ironman games, though there are several mods that increase the spawn chance of systems that should be 100% compatible. I think one of the really up-to-date ones is called All Leviathans Spawn

Is there a mod that forces crystalline asteroids to spawn, that way I never miss out on your awesome mod?
