Description
IMPORTANT NOTE- For least risk of VLS tube blockage, fire missiles at constant velocity whilst not maneuevering or at a standstill. Do NOT fire missiles in natural gravity wells over 0.5 G.
IMPORTANT NOTE 2- For proper operation of missiles and systems, check out the toolbar guide in the CIC displayed in front of the control seat, and also in this description.

The Buran ("Blizzard") class of multipurpose frigates were developed after a need arose for a combat ship capable of many secondary logistics and transport tasks to succeed the Shkval class. Heavily armed in addition to being able to traverse any celestial body, the Buran class is the modern backbone of the Union fleet.

Buran borrows the 4M33 Agat missiles from the Oniks-class missile cutters, and is capable of detecting and semi-automatically engaging rapidly moving targets from up to 5 km away in space and low gravity planets.
Its other novel weapon system is the Andezit orbital bombardment complex, which drops steel rods on surface targets up to 50 km away with a precision of 15 meters. This is manually sighted and aimed with a gravity alignment script so I recommend taking a GPS point of the target.

Buran is a significant improvement on the Shkval and boasts greatly increased performance over its peers. It can accelerate at 34.6 m/s^2 with its extremely powerful thrusters, has enough fuel for you to hold down the W key for 13 minutes (~1-2 hours of practical combat time, several days of general purpose use), and features backup ion thrusters in case you somehow run out of fuel.
It's more heavily armed, has a heavy armor CIC with excellent protection, many decoys, 2000 km jump range, auto-repairing turrets and dual redundant conveyor systems. Also included are a refinery and assembler for production purposes.

TL;DR

Buran is server- and survival- friendly and completely vanilla. A single subgrid is used for the missiles, but you can choose not to install these if you wish to produce it more easily.

CREDITS

Buran uses a few scripts to enhance function. These include Whiplash141's LAMP, Whiplash141's WHAM,Whiplash141's Weapon Salvo, Whiplash141's Artificial Horizon, Whiplash141's Airlock, Whiplash141’s Gravity Alignment[github.com], and Jonathon's Thruster Heatsink.

I used D-37 Timberwolf as a missile target.

sweet thanks

in tab 2, press button 2 while either looking at the target or within turret range depending on what mode you are in, in turret guidance mode it will only work against enemies

how do you lock on to a target?

It's there. Just, strangley clicking on the message in the notififcations brings you to the items section... weird

I believe they moved the collection comments to a separate window. It should be accessible from the top of the item page

Okay, quick question. Why can't I comment, or read comments, in this (Or any other) collection?

Thanks!
