Description
Water Guns
is a work in progress to give you real world air/water physics with underwater and abovewater guns performances modeled into the game, by adding more realism (pertaining to current modding limitations). We can balance the AM/FM spectrum of Barotrauma by making the game more in favour of AM, Actual Machines and not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Magic. All guns are craftable, deconstructable, buyable from campaign and sometimes spawn in containers during wrecks. Furthermore, if you're unskilled at using more advanced weapons with harder recoil, like the Mosin Nagant with a low weapon skill you will damage your left and right arms in a small build up of blunt force trauma.

July 19th: Added Gunsmith Lathe to migrate gun crafting from Fabricator to this particular fabricator.
July 13th: Added Chinese (Simplified/Tranditional) translation by EndlingSky. and RS-CZH
July 13th: Added separate translation file under English.xml to allow people to translate easier.
July 5th: Added SPP-2 Underwater Gun (pistol) originally used by Soviet Russia in 1975. Functionally the same as SPP-1 but with a shorter barrel and 8 break-open barrels instead of just 4 with the SPP-1, with 8 rounds speed loader, it is still louder than the american Mk1Mod0 Underwater Defense gun, but it contains more round capacity.
  • Balanced and standardized most Underwater Damage
  • All handguns will have more spread (unless skilled in weapons)
  • All long rifles have almost no spread (depend on skill)
  • All Assault Rifles have medium spread
  • AG-026 being a cousin of QBS but fires at 200 RPM instead of 600RPM received a prototype 60 round magazine (you get through crafting or buying).
  • All underwater handguns no longer produce muzzle flash (realism)
  • Mosin nagant bolting sound is reduced to 2 seconds from 4 and reflects that by the correct audio in 4 clacks.

Engine Limitation Disclaimer
(Current game developer and engine needs work to make this mod perfect).
Due to engine restrictions, almost all water and air weapons must break slowly without their natural environment when held/equipped to simulate real world performance degradation when out of their natural environment. Because the game engine doesn't allow usage based weapon breaking to magazine capable weapons with water checks. But the weapon automagically repairs itself in their natural environment again while equipped. In the mod I've added audio and visual cues to tell you when these weapons are degrading, in a sizzle in air or water bubbling in water to show you the weapon is taking environmental damage. Without further adieu here are the guns...

Functional Examples:
In the right circumstances ammunition for each and every gun can be shot and visually seen, in water if a round survives, you can see it descending gracefully if it was a bullet, or travelling really fast away like a flechette. Bangers is propellant and explosive but modeled as an invisible bullet that should disappear within a short range outside of the bangstick's melee reach to simulate contact explosives.

If you shoot the water rounds (flechette) in air, it will not travel far but pertain the same damage modelling as water.
If you shoot the water rounds in water, it will travel in a distance and sometimes you can even pick it back up.

If you shoot the air rounds (bullets) in air, it will travel very far, very fast, like a normal bullet. Being these are 7.62mm they will drop a person in almost one shot.
If you shoot the air round in water, it will travel 2 feet infront of the muzzle and fall gracefully in the water to gravity doing absolutely little damage.

Balance:
Gunsmith Lathe created to migrate default fabricator load onto new machine hopefully fixing desync issues in servers being hosted far away.

Big thanks to Hubismal taking the time to DM me to help make this mod, EK's Author 38.58 Game Tester, and Jlobblet and the UTG discord for doing their best to help me when I was having problems with XML and encountering many magical situations with the game engine.

Without my American and European friends this mod wouldn't be as accurate as it is, they want real guns and here it is the wadder guns.

If you see bugs, or think something doesn't feel right in balance, please reply in the comments or forum discussion. There are certain niche cases that even happen in the vanilla smg magazine like it holding a round even though it's empty in the deconstructor. I tried to model knowing that fact and balanced the crafting regarding that aspect.

PS. I recommend getting the hydroponics patched mod to get elastin and organic fiber in some gun recipes.

I just dont understand. How can it be that all the most interesting mods in the workshop are just not being updated anymore? People release all these banger and just dip

Considering this mod was last updated in 2020 it broke after a few updates and its long incompatible, but from what i can tell, All it needs is a repatch and a few fixes to the newest updates and it can start working perfectly again

The mod doesn't seem to want to work. No matter what I do, I followed the steps in the imgur. I added LUA to clientside, tested it in singleplayer, multiplayer and in the submarine editor. It just wont work, what's up with that?

Yep, the console gives me errors about the textures being unable to be compressed, and at some point it crashes

Sadly this causes crashs for me in an otherwise vanilla game.
