NPCs Shop More

Description
(This mod took forever to make because I had to change every character in the game individually to buy certain types of items and have certain types of money. I usually don't say this but since I basically put in 6 hours of mindless grunt work for this I'd really appreciate if you liked the mod to make it more seen)

Mod Features:

  • NPCs can have significantly more money, and most NPCs now have wages
  • NPCs will shop for a much wider variety of items based on faction of origin, role as a character, and geographical location
  • Any item placed in a shop counter will be bought by an NPC eventually
  • Trade Caravans will now take a moment to shop at your outposts if a shop counter is present and stocked (and if they buy the types of things you sell)

Load order and import info:

-Place this near the bottom of your load order (loads AFTER other mods). This fixes some incompatiblities with custom item sales, and unintended bugs with other mods that modify NPC behavior. This mod should not break any other NPC behavior mods, but some other NPC behavior mods will break this one if loaded below it (unless you're trying to use 2 mods for the same thing, but that's just a skill issue).

-Importing is ***NOT*** RECOMMENDED. As of now, this mod should be 90% functional without and import (no game-breaking glitches). Some NPCs may lack the proper increased wages (although this might not even be an import problem). However, not a single person has reported this issue in the history of the mod being available, and the mod will still function just fine with vanilla wages. So if it is an issue, it doesn't seem to negatively impact the experience of using the mod enough to notice; therefore, it is probably not worth the immersion break of a world import.

UPDATE: 2023, NOVEMBER 20
  • Fixed bug where Rebirth guards would run around constantly trying to shop, making it significantly more difficult than intended to escape (although it will still be slightly harder to escape while guards have recently finished their shifts)
  • Added back the ability for most guards to shop during off time, but adjusted priority lists of guard NPCs compared to before. This should help address issues with guards running around like madmen, ditching their posts.

There may be bugs that spring up due to these changes. Please let me know immediately if unexpected behaviors occur. I have a revert patch saved just in case I need to immediately ship the old patch while fixing anything.

UPDATE: 2023, SEPTEMBER 17
  • Fixed bug causing NPCs to break into shops in the middle of the night for some after-hours shopping.
    +Note: May try to implement "24-hour shop counter" item in the future so players can still set up overnight shops, but this addition is not a high priority
  • Changed some of Empire and global bar NPCs to have more immersive wages.
    +Notes: Elites should now be able to eventually buy ultra-premium items after saving up for a while. The changes for minor characters should be relatively net-neutral since the average thugs will have slightly higher wages and money caps, while drunk thugs, barfly drunks, and lowly peasants will have lower wages but higher money caps.
  • Guards still leave their posts a bit too often, but this will change in a later update.

I am willing to do compatibility patches with other mods by request, however this will not be a quick process.

PSA: I have posted a step-by-step on how to fix the idle NPCs bug in the discussions section for those who are trying to use this mod. It should only take 10 minutes max to fix.

I have a problem
It mod has started to show me problems with mercenaries (both mercenaries in vanilla mode and mercenaries that other mods add)

Change the loading order
I put this mod up, down, in the middle, and the mercenaries would stay still in a location (it even affected other npc, like some citizens or the shinobi thieves)

I tried the mods I have one by one, and only this one is the one that interrupts the correct functioning of the mercenaries

I noticed the technical issues you had with your hard drive. According my own experience I have an idea about what a mess this could be.
For my plannings of a MOD setup I just need to ask you:
- is there a realistic perspetive for you to recover the data or do a recreation of the MOD?
and if yes
- approximatly how long would it take to do so?

However, if you decide there wouldnt be any chance, it would be very helpful to know to look out for alternatives. Still your work on that, to me looks most interesting and I´d rather prefer to get in the comfort of its benefits.

Sorry, reason revert patch hasn't come yet is because the hard drive I had the mod on got corrupted. Unlisting it until fixed.

Unfortunately, until then, I don't feel safe using it.
