Turns out I had the colors right from the start. But my game is weird and shows everything really dark by default. So I thought I had it wrong. Theme Mixer showed me the exposure was way low.
The dam landed right on top of one of the sources. It was all the fiddling I did with adding sources and cranking them up that got the river flowing backwards. It probably would have stabilized eventually. But it honestly just didn't look right. It was a fun experiment, but I can't say I'd recommend the idea.
I wonder if you had placed the dam just below one of my spawn points, causing my next spawn point downstream to flow toward the dam. You may need to place a new spawn point immediately below the dam.
It looks like you've got the colors right.
Tried a dam, doesn't really seem to work. Well, it didn't produce any power... which I understand is normal if you build outside 25 tiles. I thought I was inside that, maybe I wasn't. But building it any further inside the limit just wouldn't look right. An 80-meter dam would almost flood half the map. It was also difficult to get right. I had so much waterflow behind the dam that the river was running backwards. Had to build up the wall a bit to get the level up. I did actually attempt to build a new dam further downstream. But my computer crashed when I bulldozed the old dam. I don't think it liked the idea of simulating those physics.

Rail to the river? That's a long way down given appropriate rail grades.
Something I thought someone might try is a dam on one of the rivers. But I think you'd need BloodyPenguin's Extra Landscaping Tools to install or adjust water spawn points.
The game was acting weird, couldn't get the simulation to run. Had no problem moving the camera, just couldn't unpause it. So I couldn't verify what BonBon said about the river flow. But the lack of arrows wasn't encouraging.
Finally came up with some ideas for the build. One of them being a rail line down to the river. That will be a project.
I tried numerous themes, and yes, the Sedona is just too red, like Mars.
Really like the map. Just need to get the look like BonBon had in the review. Then have to think long and hard about the build. The assets I wanted were too much for my potato to handle. Going to build with vanilla buildings and swap them after I get my new rig.
