Description
This mod enables shared research and technology tree for members of the same team.

Quickstart

The mod adds the new "Teams Share Research" game configuration option, enabled by default. If the option is enabled, shared research will automatically activate in multiplayer and hotseat games.

Please note that your teams should be sized evenly.

Features
  • Every team shares a single technology tree.
  • When researching technologies, Science yields from team members are combined.
  • Technology research costs are increased proportionally to the team sizes.
  • The UI is updated to show which technologies are being researched by the team members.
  • The UI considers the team research when estimating remaining turns.

Reporting issues

If something doesn't work as expected, please be patient as that may be fixed in the next update. If you are having issues, please describe the problem in details in the comments section.

If the mod is causing desynchronizations, please make sure to collect the logs from all players to make the problem easier to fix. The usual location of the game log on Windows is:
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VI\Logs\Lua.log

Notes
  • If a civilization begins the game with technologies (such as Māori), the whole team will immediately have access to these technologies. This may give the team an advantage, so please consider it during multiplayer game drafts.
  • The same applies to playing Babylon with Hammurabi where an eureka immediately grants the technology.

Core implementation details
  • The state is always synchronized at the beginning of the turn.
  • Certain events, such as the technology being researched due to an in-game action, may cause an immediate sync across all players of the team.
  • The mod takes special care to properly replay all changes, including ordinary Science yields, boosts. It resolves research overflows and handles dynamic changes to the research costs caused by entering a new era.

@Koteemu If you keep up with this mod thread I would like to get your permission to post a version of your mod that has the forced balanced teams disabled for the public to use.

@Parzival There are a lot of causes for desyncs. The more mods you use, the more likely it is. Recommended fixes to attempt until he might be available to troubleshoot is to make sure all players are in Fullscreen (not borderless windowed) and to have the host go into their Task Manager > Details and right-click the Civ VI process and Set Priority to Normal because it defaults to "Below Normal". This fixed mine and my fiancee's desync issues at the very least and we use this mod.

Friends and I having desync issues. I think its from this mod, but not entirely sure. Logs are a bit long though, so how should I send?

Is there one that does NOT share research? Or civics? Buddy and I want to play but have our research be our own, but be on a team together so we don't have to end up killing each other in the end.

Dont understand why it has to force team size. I only play against AI with a friend so it feels unnecessary.

please also add shared era score to this mod. With this as it is its very hard to make normal and golden because many score increases only go to one of the teamates.
