Description
-Minimod-
This is my addition to the minimod universe. Chalce is a cross between an industrial and steampunk faction that has reached for the stars as a last option. Below are posted links to the other minimod factions. Definitely check them out!!!

This may be one of if not the most optimized player faction in the workshop, so if you see any bugs definitely report them please.

Known issues: Mirrors of mirrorable guns will only scale in sandbox and not campaign.

Great thanks to:
-prototype for helping with shapes and ships

-dillpickaxe, aelois, and splet for helping with ships

-and the entire discord reassembly community, especially the minimod gang for teaching me to mod

Lore:
The chalce collective is very new to space travel. They have avoided complete annihilation by selling raw materials to other factions. this leads to an interesting and delicate balance where factions may not like where some supplies are going, but also do not want their own supply cut off.

The home planet of the collective used to be a diverse place filled with many countries and cultures. The primary powers on the planet included Chalce, Thirio, and Senut. Chalce was overall a pretty neutral faction albeit extremely politically conservative. This led to many political disputes with the more developed, but lesser populated Thirio and Senut, who also somewhat disliked each other's personal philosophy.

The ideology of Thirio was that prosperity was to be reached through engineering and that the metals on the planet, and eventually nearby, should be used to further develop society. Chalce agreed that the natural resources should be used for gain, but disliked the use of robots by Thirio. They had an overall distrust of most things, and giving life to an artificial body was definitely super sketch. Senut, on the other hand, was deeply reverent to the ground they lived on, and swore to disrupt the production of the two other main factions. Thirio gave them a particular distaste because they saw their artificial creations as a direct affront to their god. They employed punishing guerrilla tactics that severely punished the lives of civilians, and caused them to seek refuge.

As Chalce was not being directly attacked yet, but with the worrying progress Senut was making, they eventually lowered their strict border policies from no refugees to selectively choosing those that were the most "Chalce like." Many people came in illegally as well, and started to slightly change the way Chalce thought about technology and the lives of others. They began looking to the stars to possibly escape from Senut if it came to that, and started developing better weapons. Due to the still overarching respect of tradition, these new guns were significanty newer and more powerful, but bore huge resembelances to what they used to use in battle. Their power plants became more efficient and their refineries threw out purer metals.

Eventually, Thirio also turned to Chalce for help. They saw the faction that already had the largest and most devoted population start to embrace new technologies, and maybe had a chance to hold off Senut. Initially, Chalce denied this request out of spite and pride, but due to the recent influx of refugees that had somewhat already assimilated and changed the culture, Chalce eventually agreed to aid Thirio. The two joined together, under the new banner "Chalce Collective" to show the submission, but presence, of the new members. Another part of the reason Chalce accepted Thirio's request was that Senut had started to turn around to hit Chalce. Their attach was expected, but quickened by the new developements in technology.

After the collective was formed, it now had basically Senut's entire attention. Before this, Chalce only had to deal with occasional skirmishes from Senut scouts and raiding parties, and it's military was overall not trained in actual war. The arrival of Thirio definitely helped mobilize the forces slightly, but most of Thirio at this point were desperate civilians and soldiers who were scarred by Senut's brutal tactics. Overall, the collective was very unprepared for a full scale invasion by war-hardened fanatics, and it showed. They lost many key battles are were constantly driven back into the depths of their territory to survive. The space initiative was pumped into maximum overdrive.

Finally, the collective's prayers were answered. A husk of a ship from a faraway conflict had drifted through space and hit an asteroid near the home planet. The collective immediately sent many ships towards the wreck to try to gain a final edge over Senut. Many of the ships sent had catastrophic failures occur, but in the end, a few made it. The power and weapons systems had been completely blown out by a missile of unfathomable strength, but some systems and thrusters were still somewhat intact.

In the last years of the Senut conflict, the collective re-engineered a lot of what they found on the ship. The power outputs had to be significantly lowered, but it was enough to get into orbit easily and consistently. Those who could boarded ships that orbited the planet while the collective regrouped. The ships were never made for long term survival, so many died, but the upside was that Senut was too prideful to touch any of the leftover technology on the planet to finish the collective off.

In the end, the collective was able to develop life support systems in space to thrive. They also significantly upgraded the thrusters and power systems they had with some help from the wreck so that they could leave the clutches of gravity and venture out into the unknown. Even with these leaps in technology, the collective was still very conservative at heart, and wanted to avenge those who gave their lives in the Senut war. They improved their weapons the same way they always had, except in enormous proportion this time. As a final display of vengence, anger, and respect for their fallen, they torched their homeworld. And thus began the space age.

It seems this faction really likes spawning ships inside of other ships and the planetoids. That or my map generation is really weird. Either way, this is unfortunately killing my framerate whenever I encounter them.

The building core is unavailable. Its mostly because I don't like having multiple cores in a mod. If you really want, I can put it in the palette, but there is no guarantee that you can actually do anything with it because I've never used faction buildings in campaign before

for creator: why are buildings available. if i cant somehow build them?

Thank you, and thanks for making the mod!

Oh yeah I wouldn't be surprised if I had that on a TODO list somewhere lol. It should be fixed now.

For the two types, there's actually a tiny gray line on the outside of one of them, so it can stand out better with the black background. In hindsight its probably too small to notice, but I think it makes a big difference when you zoom in

Oh, the yellow ones seem to have a strong yellow outline on them, not sure if it was intended. Without the strong yellow it'd look seamless. I noticed there's two types of each colour but I couldn't discern their purpose in terms of difference.

what do you think I could do to improve the hazard lines?
