RFS - Wraith

Description
"We didn't see it until it was too late."

The Renegade Fleet Systems Wraith Class Frigate was designed to combine the speed and agility of a corvette with the survivability of a frigate. The ship's low profile, high speed, and heavy armor make it a difficult opponent to fight. Against larger warships it can use it's high velocity guns to erode the enemies shields from a distance while setting up to make high speed passes against weak spots. It's speed can rival some fighters (210+ m/s on the deck) and anything it can't keep pace with will most likely still be in the 8+ km range of the primary guns. Regardless, the 2m thick armor covering the top and bottom of the hull means that it's safe from smaller caliber weapons while the sides range from 1m of armor around non critical systems, to 3m in some spots near the CIC / bridge. As an added layer of protection the shield has 482000hp and a 12 sec recharge.

Controls:
1 - Locks down the ship, airlock doors can't be opened and the rear computer core can't be accessed
2 - closes and opens the blast doors covering the windows
Primary - Center line beam cannons

Pros:

- High speed in and out of Light Cruise
- Low profile compared to other frigates
- Heavy armor and shields for a ship of its size
- System redundancies, a reactor and shield array at both the bow and stern of the ship
- Good mix of long, short, and medium range weapons systems
- Large fields of fire

Cons:

- Small internal space due to size and amount of armor
- Lower overall DPS compared to regular frigate vessels
- Large engines create a large weak spot in the rear
- Buried bridge means there are no windows, only cameras and 3rd person view
- Partly exposed boarding elevators
- Only one airlock amidship

Tactics:

- Use hit and run tactics since not many ships will be able to keep up in light cruise
- Use the speed and maneuverability to avoid taking damage and attack enemy weak spots with the center mounted beam cannons
- Engage at close range and high speed to deal maximum damage while minimizing incoming fire
- Run down anything too slow to escape (evil laughter)

Weapons:

- 4 Center line mounted beam cannons
- 8 quad barreled high velocity cannons meant for long range engagements, max range ~8km
- 4 quad medium range cannons, max range 2.7km
- 2 mk2 quad beam turrets for high damage at medium to close range, max range 2km
- 2 mk1 quad beam turrets, max range 2km
- 2 CIWS quad mini gun turrets for high damage at close range, max range ~1.3km

Stats:

- Dimensions: 61 x 12 x 25 m
- Mass: ~707 tons

Power

- Capacity: 308800 e
- Generated: 48560 e/s
- Usage: 50%
- Recharge time: 13s

Heat

- Generated over dissipated: 54%

Hull

- Total hp: 730575

Shields

- Total hp: 482000
- Recharge Time: 12s

@Viper2841 oof, for me it's the opposite and experimental mode runs better than the regular version

@morally_gray162 thanks, I've been working on a updated version with some of the new parts, but the experimental branch has been unstable lately so I haven't uploaded it yet.

awesome!

Ohh, if you are having a hard time thinking of something to make, try your hand at a space station. It's pretty cool having a place to dock your ships while you work on other stuff. You could even make a dry dock to build them in. I think I should look into that myself.

ya, I used an item stand for a "holo map" in my space station and I made a small version of the space station with a gun handle. Its pretty cool. But How do you make them save into the build. When I spawned yours the repair icon was in the item stand, but when I spawn my own they are no in there.

@Servo Yeah I found that out relatively late into the build, I'm thinking of using item stands and the base tools to make holo-signs for all kinds of things, you can even make a "gun" that is literally just a sign for more custom ones if you have the time to spend. The default tools can be used for some basic good looking symbols, I'd use the connection tool for teleport rooms, Wrench for engineering rooms, etc. I think the next build I do will be either a large landing platform / hanger or a smaller ship like a fighter or bomber.

IMO start thematically. Think of a character type in the sci-fi space world. So like a smuggler (what I am working on now), pirates, cargo pilots (truck drivers), military etc and just build to that.
The easiest way to get started on a project is to give yourself barriers or rules. It starts to whittle down the process. If you say I want a smuggler ship, then you know to start with that in mind vs like a military ship or something. That is how I do it at least.

If you dont mind, I am gonna steal the wrench in the item stand that you did. That is amazing, I mean pure genius. Its functional and aesthetic. Its how things should be. Love it!

Thanks @Servo now I'm just stuck thinking of what to build next. All the logic on this build was pretty simple, but I was happy with how it turned out. The original was much more complicated with these weird landing gear that also functioned as boarding ramps, but I had to scrap that because it was too buggy and I didn't have enough room to work with.

This is a really cool ship. I love how you made your cargo bay doors and lifts. The flow of the ship is nice and has some really cool details use of greeble. The stats are nice and she has crazy maneuverability. Well done!
