Description
Price: 9000 mk || Tier 2

The Palestar II S, is the Stealth variant of the Palestar II. Outfitted with a prototype Stealth mode, and large capacity S.M.R.T. batteries, the ship is able to operate silently for extended periods. The power requierments of the batteries are too high for the stock reactor and require an outpost to charge effeciently. Once docked the S.M.R.T. system will automatically begin charging until the batteries are full. Expierenced crew are recommended to take full advantage of the advanced systems.

Features:

  • Stealth Mode
Activated from a button next to the navigation terminal, Stealth Mode will shift internal lights to a green tint, deactivate all external lights, shut down the reactor, enable battery power and throttle the engine's power to 24% allowing the ship to operate without generating any sound or light. While active the external light's toggle button is disabled, but the gun lights can still be toggled. When turned off the batteries will remain on for 22 seconds then shutoff automatically (This allows the reactor on automatic to get the fission rate back up to optimal levels)
  • Self Modulating Recharge Tandem Batteries
A high capacity battery system that will automatically adjust it's charge rates upon docking to stations. The un-upgraded reactor can handle about 20-30% charge rate between the two batteries when away from outposts allowing for some charge recovery in the field. Powers the coilguns, ballast, engines, navigation terminal, oxygen generator, and some of the ship's interior lights and bilge pumps. Toggled from navigation terminal (Will automatically engage when stealth mode is activated)
  • Live Map
There is a live motion/flooding map in the middle of the ship. The map tracks motion throughout the ship (except ballasts) and shows if rooms have water in them as well (blue lights). The edges of the map will light up if something is in close proximity to the ship's exterior in that area.
  • Drainage System
Can be toggled from the navigation terminal (Does not drain engine room, magazine or top floors)
  • Discharge Coils
Mounted on the top and bottom of the sub to dislodge unwanted passengers, activated from the navigation terminal.
  • Exterior Camera
Can be viewed from the navigation terminal.
  • Exterior Lights Toggle
Exterior lights can be turned off/on with a button next to the navigation terminal. Additionally the coil gun lights can also be turned on/off with a button situated between their periscopes.
  • Machine Shop
Located next to the cargo room, the ship has a small machine shop to allow deconstruction and fabrication of items.
  • Decoy Station
Located in the Armory, the ship is loaded with 2 decoys that can be dropped to lure creatures away from the sub. Extra helpful when used in Stealth Mode.
  • Powered Docking
The sub receives power from the primary docking port. When docked to stations the reactor can be shutdown to reserve fuel. Systems that are powered from the docking port are: Batteries, oxygen generator, fabricator/deconstructor, rear access shaft pumps, and some of the lights.
  • Additional status monitor in the engine room

FI-8 Gamma Drone S
The FI-8 Gamma drone is good for doing recon of small spaces before sending a dive team. Can also be used to bring supplies to dive teams that have gone far from the sub through a tight space. It's small frame and flimsy armor make it ill suited for combat, but the coil gun mounted on the top can be used to great effect while attached to the parent sub. The Drone's navigation terminal has a button that will let you switch the periscope between the turret on the top, and the search light on the bottom right of the drone.

This is the stealth version of the Palestar II. I designed this to be a more advanced option for campaigns that gives captains a stealthier way to traverse the Europan depths. The batteries are setup to automatically go to 100% charge rate when docked to stations and will step down their charge rate as they approach full capacity (this stops the ship from breaking every junction box in the outpost). It is also a good long term campaign sub for a small group of people (2-3) but can also be used effectively in single player by a skilled captain.

Designing the logic for the stealth mode was a lot of fun, from what I've tested I'm pretty sure it's fool proof but it's possible there are cases I hadn't considered! Please post any issues you run into and I'll try and get them fixed asap!

Thank you so much!!! It means a lot to me knowing that people are enjoying the sub!:captainsmooth:
Hi, I'm Lexi ツ 27 Oct, 2024 @ 6:51pm
Huge thank you for fixing the drone, our group mainly uses this submarine.

Aruguably one of the best submarines ever in Barotrauma, the Stealth Drive is OP. We avoided Molochs passing by at 30 meters.

Hi! Thanks for letting me know about the problem with the drone, I found the issue and fixed it!

Hello, the drone seems to be only moving up and down only, instead of left and right after the update. Not sure what's causing it

Hello! Thank you for the consideration! I took a look in the editor and it seems like everything is working as expected after the update! There did seem to be an issue with stealth mode not running the engine silent at full speed so I fixed that. I'm really glad you have been enjoying all the subs! Please let me know if you run into any issues! :captainsmooth:

Hey love your subs, noticed that a new spring update is coming out soon 'Blood in the Water' for barotrauma. Literally all love and zero pressure but when the update drops it'd be cool if we could test these subs to see if they need updates (I'll test and let you know what happens). Hope you're doing well :HeartPix:

Ahhh fair enough, I don't run too many mods when I play so it's possible something like that could cause a conflict or change the way tiers are assigned.

Might be a weird conflict with Dynamic Europa or something
I just remember seeing it marked as Tier I with a bunch of other Tier 1 subs

@Pavel4win Thank you for the heads up, I took a look in the editor and realised the duct in question was not in the right position. I've fixed that so it shouldn't be an issue anymore (also sorry for this VERY late reply)

@SpenceZILLA I took a look at the sub and it is correctly saved as a tier 2 sub, I don't seem to encounter it in the early areas of the game. Is it possible a local version was saved that changed the tier?

Hey, real sorry to comment here after a year. Not much of an issue, but it looks like the palestar II S is classified by the game as a tier 1 sub, so you can get it really early on.
