Mario Movement Buddy

Description
Fly high, because with this buddy you'll be able to side hop and long jump just like the plumber in red, himself! To perform a side hop, full hop during your dash turn animation. To long jump, start running, tap down, and short hop.

Ran into this by surprise. Nice mod deor.

@Zen Dragon I use autorun, it doesn't sacrifice side tilts at all. Just set a "walk" (I think it might be called "run" actually) button in the controls. I have mine set to space so to side tilt I hold space and press left/right + attack.

this will be perfect with the speedrunner mario mod

I will admit that I tested with run button control scheme (walk be default, hold button to run). That said, RAR is kind of a core tech. It might be worth it to learn how to do it with whatever control scheme you're most comfortable with.

I found the main problem on why side hop is so hard to do keyboard. Your mod requires it to be a running turn around for the side hop. Since the default keyboard controls require you to doubletap to run, a side hop is impossible to do without lightning fast fingers or changing it to autorun (which sacrifices side tilts).

@Zen Dragon The side hop is performed by doing a full-hopped reverse aerial rush. This can be a little trickier in Rivals as compared to Smash because the dash turnaround animations are typically shorter.

What you'll want to do is get into a full run (where you can't dash dance anymore), press the opposite direction from where you're currently going, and immediately full hop. For most characters this is somewhere around a 10 frame window.

Tl;dr: full run -> turn -> immediately full hop

Hope that helps!

I'm personally having trouble finding the timing of the side hop (I'm a keyboard player). I found the timing of the long jump just fine, but the side hop is really tough to do. Any suggestions on how the timing should be done?

I think you just figured out how to put motion inputs into platform fighters and make it amazing
