MonsterScaling DE

Description
DE port of MonsterScaling

To be used along with Scale Experience By Player Level

Original description:

Monster Scaling
Levels monsters up to your level upon entering combat. It's as simple as that. This should not conflict with any mod and is compatible with any kind of mod that alters enemy scaling.

It does not scale enemies down to your level.

Enemies scaled to your level should drop better equipment and give more XP. This will increase their stats appropriately as the entire game runs on a few core scaling algorithims. This also means it is completely compatable with any mods that change scaling. The scaling changes WILL be reflected in the leveled up enemies.

The Orb of Strife
v1.1 of Monster Scaling introduces a new item that will automatically be added to your inventory upon loading a saved game or entering a new area, if it doesn't already exist in your inventory. It will be added to every character. If you are not playing a 4-player game or only want one person to control the settings, feel free to put it in a backpack and forget about it. It weighs nothing.

The Orb of Strife will allow you to custom tailor Monster Scaling to your individual needs. You can set it so monsters are leveled up below, above, or at your current level. You can even disable it if you need a break!

This will not de-level enemies, it only changes how enemies level up upon entering combat with you

Is there some sort of soft level cap for this mod? I was messing around with it and when my party was all level 24, and I had the orb at 15+, when I entered combat the game broke. My party members ran into the void, and the ones that didnt, could attack enemies but it would pass right through. I couldnt load saves either, or go to main menu. I had to use task manager to forcibly shut it down.

Scale Exp by Player level do not take the initial mob level into account, it has no way to know that, since my mod will make the enemy leveled up.

Btw i didnt answered your question, and the answer is yes it should act like this.

Scale Experience by Player level, will give you the least amount of XP between the enemy XP and the XP it should have give you at the level of your hightest party member.

If you do NOT use my mod and kill a monster level 3, while your party is level 5. => You will get XP from a level 3 monster.

If you use my mod and scale the monster to lvl 5 => You will get the XP from a monster of level 5 not of level 3.

If you use my mod along side Scale Exp by Player level and scale the monster to your party level + 2 scaling it to level 7 => you will get the XP from a monster of level 5 since your party is level 5
Without the scaling XP mod you would get XP from a level 7 monster instead.

Long time i didnt played, Scale Exp by Player level is as the name says, mobs experience is based on player level not on the enemy level.

So in practice you should not level up too fast if you are mostly facing mob of same of higher level than you.

The problem will start to occur if you are killing lower level monster, you should not use my mod to make low level monster scale to your level, if you dont want to overlevel.
This can be a problem during ACT 2 where there are a tons of optional fight, you could potentially get some more level than the classic experience, but i have never tested this so i cannot state if this is true or not.

I ported this mob back in the day because i wanted to have fight against mob 2+ level than my party, to increase the difficulty. But it made the whole group overlevel pretty fast.

I hope you understand better how this mod works and what it was made for, if you have any more question do not hesitate.

A non-leveled up enemy gives about 3000 XP.

With Character Gain Modifier in Scale Experience by Player Level set to 0.5, I get 10050 XP for the same enemy leveled up to 16.

Should it be like this? I thought it'd be sth like 5000xp instead?

According to the Larian XP table - https://docs.larian.game/Experience_For_Exploration_Quests_And_Killing - 10050 is already the lowest gain for level 16. So I should be safe not to over level with these mods and settings?

Works for all enemies, some specific encounters seems to have issues sometimes. I advise you to use the XP scaling mod to keep the leveling close to the original experience.
In the case the mod does not work for one encounters atleast you still get the original experience challenge.

this only works on monsters and not all enemies in general?

It is meant to make the game harder not easier, so if you get your ass kicked i guess it is working as intended :D

`It does not scale enemies down to your level.`
