V/Line G Class - Goods (8)

Description
The G class consists of around 31 diesel locomotives built for V/Line in the mid-to-late 80s. In the mid-90s the freight division of V/Line was sold off entirely and all the G class locomotives have been repainted in the liveries of private companies. This recreation presents the locomotive in its original V/Line livery.

The locomotive pulls a train of 8 skeletal wagons (based on the VQFX wagon) carrying ISO shipping containers in 40' and 20' varieties, liquid tankers, as well as sheet metal coils. These use the Trailer Variation Loader mod to reflect the cargo of the train. It also auto-reverses the locomotive in the direction of travel.

Hang on, so what's the difference between "goods" and "materials" in this context?
Not a great deal - they both primarily carry ISO containers. Each train has their own mixture of 3 unique trailers - 3 skeletal VQFX wagons for the 'goods', and 3 flatbed VFTX wagons for the 'materials'. All three of the VFTX ones show logs in the log cargo slot, and two of them show metal tubes in the ore cargo slot - whereas the VQFX wagons don't support that kind of cargo and have more containers and sheet metal coils instead. The combinations of containers shown on each vary for each cargo slot. There are 32 unique trailer appearances across these 6 wagons - you will most often see the 6 'generic goods' trailers, but they're in there!

The ISO containers are modelled on the mesh and texture layout used by Avanya. Check out her many excellent industrial assets and more here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/id/avanya87/myworkshopfiles/?appid=255710

Thank you.
Don't forget that you need to activate TrailerVariation Loader in Content Manager for it to work. Hope this fixes it for you.

Aye this is very well done. Curious why some of the better train models seem to be Australian based motors and cars. And with like 4 or 5 really talented content creators belting them out. With the electric cars that are around and these freight examples, we are pretty spoilt.

In relation to this and the 8 car material version, I am getting a graphic artefact with the cars. It would seem different skins are clipping through each other, like the containers can't settle on what to show.

So unsubscribed this and the TrailerVariationLoader but no change when put back in. The fact I am not seeing anything on this or your other freight uploads makes me think it more me, but thought I would post and ask around.

You can see Render It in the screenshot but I just use the default rendering profile. Although I could get some great looks out of it, the way it messes up if you go into any overlay or underground view was distracting.

the secret sauce to get the Australian look imo is boosting the global light intensity a bit, get that ozone glare :)

I'm curious to what LUT and lighting settings your using for the screenshots cause their spot on perfect.
