Space Trains, Tracks, Door & Elevator Concepts

Description
Intro

Since I haven't seen much workshop items related to rails for this game, I decided to share with you my concepts about different options, that you can accomplish in creation of railways. The train is really stable, however with these tracks you can go only two ways without turns. All these rails can be used to create Elevators as well, especially the first, smallest concept with small & small blocks, that can be built within a spaceship and while the ship is moving, they can be locked in place. The concept can be used to create sliding doors for stations as well.

About the concepts:

First off, it's really hard to position the small blocks so that they work as intended in connection with the large blocks, but once it's done, it's easy to work further with the train shape construction. The easiest one would be the first, where you have small block rail and small block train cart. General idea when using large blocks and small blocks togeather is limiting movement in two directions and allowing one in one direction by squeezing the small block shape in between some sort of slopes, that will make the model fit in really tight compared to square blocks, that have gaps and preventing tight fit around.

Details:

1) The small block train rail is the most compact one and allows space on the upper rail to have outgoing connections, where you can connect the track to some solid surface with landing gears, also this rail can be rotated so that it can go in any direction you want instead of other rails. The construction begins with the rail itself and expanding the cart outwards so that all the landing gears of the upcoming train count as single block with the rail, that way you can build around the rail and once you detach the train from the rail, it will be really stable and will hold to the rail as long as there is no deformation that could change the trajectory of the landing gears holding the train into the position.

2) The second train concept has the smallest large block rail (1 block in size) and has a small block outer shell train, something similar to a monorail mechanic. Hard to get the small blocks aligned with the large station blocks, but once it's done, you can build the train shape as huge as you want, however take in mind, that the longer the connection shape with the rail, the more stable is the train and won't brake on any speeds - this applies to all the shapes, which makes these train rail concepts really safe and best option for now ingame.

3) Platform based train with an outer holding shell with built in engines and power supplies, doesn't have much room so it has only small engines, but you can build on top of it additional engines to increase the speed of the train platform.

4) This was actually the initial train design, that I had done quite a long time ago, before there were any usable drills in the game, solid design with small rail in the center, has some space within the rail to have built in engines and power support for the cart.

Note: The last two are unstable in the latest version of the game, it's hard to tell if they changed something in latest version of the game or it was made initially wrong (though in theory they work the same way as 2-4). The last designs may crash in the track and destroy both the train itself and the track when you try to run it at high speeds, because it seems that now they aren't sitting as tightly and nifty as initially I thought they will.

5) Similar to previous design, but with more room in between rails to have more engines and power under the train platform.

6) As platform based rails, these look in my opinion the most sci-fy and has a ton of room for engines under the cart.

@FAdm. Cycad he right he wont play Space engineer anymore but i do play when i got bored

@FAdm. Cycad sorry, but I don't play the game anymore, because of how unstable are rotors, pistons and other dynamic blocks in the game. I have moved on to Empyrion: Galactic Survival, since for me it's more interesting compared to Space Engineers and you can actually play that game with other friends too.

Until they haven't fixed those functional blocks (rotors, pistons) etc and their stability issues, I don't plan to play SE any time soon.

Would it be possibly to upload an updated version of this world?

@Subquake there a timer you try to use

Yes, sorry. My comment was just for your info, no offense meant. I've been working on a tracked vehicle myself and know how difficult it is to build something robust. Mine is wheeled and still the track is the weak part.
I've added welders on my vehicle to automatically repair the track. Maybe try it on your trains, too. Though you'll need a welder battery, I fear ;-)
And I never liked the landing gears in this game. When I began in 1.053 the landing gears of small ships were breaking if they had contact to a large object and the large object was moved. So I use the Maglock mod. One of the best in this game imo. Superglue for space engineers which can unstick with a click :-)

@Lynnuxx,
It was made a really long time ago, they have changed some things relating to hitboxes and how the blocks interact with each other on friction

Interesting concept but low robustness. All trains broke pretty fast.

Sounds nice to me!

If anyone is interested in this, I will update it with new concepts including new game mechanics etc

This upload is so old, was made way before there was anything in the game, just landing gears were implemented, so :P
