An alternative version of Designable Strike Craft.

This version uses the strike craft top slot instead of a core component slot for spawning designable strike craft.

Using the strike craft slot eliminates the need for additional ship sizes & sections. The light strike cruiser, strike carrier, light strike platform, and strike command-ship (second juggernaut) have been removed accordingly. The combined components are also gone.

This should be friendlier to other mod creators who want to submod patch the functionality of this mod into theirs.

to those modders - for best results you should adapt the event script to your specific requirements. you of course have my permission to modify and use the various parts of either this mod or the original designable strike craft.
Maybe just give me some credit somewhere.

this version does not use the default country file. * recent patches make the country file obsolete in both DSC versions.

some additional warnings for all users - It is likely this is not fully functional; AI generated designs might not work well if they happen to pick duplicate squadrons in multiple point defense slots.

Distinct differences in this version -

- Pay attention to component descriptions. If you place more than one of the same mixed wing component on the same ship, you will only get one wing from that squadron. for best results, pick a different squadron per slot.

- This version uses buffs/debuffs to balance weapons that are used on the mod strike craft. The good things that result from this method are that any weapon can be used on a mod strike craft and the damage will be scaled down. That makes it pretty compatible by default with most weapon mods. The bad thing is it is a little harder to figure out what the actual damage is until the strike craft is spawned in combat.

Hey, absolutely love your work with DSC, it's a must include for all my modsets. I recently did some modding of my own and was able to add DSC support for the Kurogane shipset, would it be possible to make a submod to allow it? The files work with either DSC or DSC alt version!

just use console commands. the models are not new, I'm just using the existing assets. so whatever you see on vanilla carriers is what you will see being deployed by the mod. as far as strike craft go.

Can we get previews of all currently existing strike craft designs for each of the shipsets attached to the steam page? wanna look at them all without having to grind up in the game to reach the point of having access to them for EACH shipset

btw, i absolutelly ADORE the aquatic heavy fighter design, it just looks SOO SLEEK!

so in other words my fighters are their own ship sizes with their own ship sections, core components, utility, and in this version the weapons are just debuffed if the ship section is one of my fighters.

it just does not work like that. my fighters are not fighters in the same way vanilla stellaris uses fighters.

if you put a hangar component in there its going to want to spawn vanilla fighters, which with stellaris the only thing you can control about vanilla fighters are weapon stats.

vanilla fighters can't have ship sections, weapon, utility or core component slots. that is why its a little janky.
