Description
A miniature, open cockpit vehicle that can be controlled visually.

If you ever wanted a fast, very compact shuttle that doesn't require an airlock to help you loot wrecks or caverns, here is a functional one. Feel free to use it as a template, and pick it apart. This shuttle is part of my main, bigger submarine, so it has a few extra systems and safeguards attached to it

How does it work?
How can you you hold onto the vehicle while it's moving?

As long as your body is inside a hull (blue rectangles), you are part of the submarine, and move at the same speed, but if you're outside, the submarine moves independently.

The trick is to stand inside a permanently flooded hull in the driver area, so you are part of the sub, BUT it comes with a cost: your sub will sink, as water is disproportionately heavier than air, therefore requiring a much bigger volume of air than water to maintain buoyancy

How do we do that?
By stacking hulls on top of each other. At some point, enough "air" hulls will compensate the one flooded hull, achieving buoyancy. Note that it also affects the sub this shuttle is attached too, so it might destabilize it a little.

You undock by pressing a button (just above the O2 tanks), it's not controlled by the terminal

when docked its power is off and so i am unable to undock it

Strange, it's probably a collision issue, try moving the docking port away from your sub and see if it undocks properly

the problem isnt docking
its undocking, when i put it in the sub editor attached to a ship it cant undock

I've added an image to help getting rid of the wifi component

The wifi check is what controls whether you can dock or not; if your sub has a wifi sending 1 on channel 499 in proximity (I used a limited, 60 range in setting), the docking will activate. Otherwise, the button doesn't do anything

You either need to add a wifi component near your docking port on the main sub, or get rid of the wifi check entirely on the shuttle

how so?
hUbert 2  [author] 18 Apr, 2021 @ 2:46am
@wizpiggy there's a proximity wifi signal check that activates the docking mechanism, so it can only dock on a specific port

You can rewire the docking port to change that
