Another Dragon Mod

Description
THIS MOD IS NO LONGER BEING UPDATED ACTIVELY.
Stellaris as a whole is no longer a passion of mine, I'm too busy and otherwise lack the motivation to upkeep this project. That's not to say I've abandoned it altogether, I think I'd like to come back to this someday, but that won't be for a long time (probably months or even years). Anyone can use anything from this mod however they like.

Compatible with Stellaris 3.8 (probably)

Oh wow! Another dragon mod huh?

Yeah, there have been a few of these, but none of them have ever been quite satisfactory in my opinion, so I've made my own. In short, it adds dragon portraits picked out from a couple other discontinued mods, new civics, and a dragon trait with its positives and negatives.

IMPORTANT FOR MOD FUNCTIONALITY
This mod is dependent on Universal Modifier Patch, this mod will function without it but some effects from some features will not work properly or at all.

Portraits and (some) icons taken from now deleted dragon mods, I apologize that I cannot credit the true creators but I can say that I did not make these portraits (only most of the icons). If your art is being used (and you can prove it's yours) and you have a problem with this mod please let me know and I can credit you or take your portraits out of the mod.

Features:
-Dragon portraits, all types are shown in the pictures but there are many color variations not shown
-Dragon trait giving buffs and debuffs fitting to dragons and adding traits to leaders, automatically added at no cost when using the dragon portraits
-Draconic Empire civic as a gateway civic to the others listed next, it adds +3 civic points (+2 really, since it counts as a civic itself)
-13 Draconic Empire exclusive civics each focusing on specific areas like military, research, etc.
-13 boosted civics, duplicates of the normal civics but far more powerful and totally overpowered
-WIP name list for leaders, ships, fleets, etc. (keep in mind this is unfinished and totally to my own personal liking)

Planned:
-Finish up the name list
-Add some hive mind civics to replace the non-hive dragon civics
-Fix any bugs that come up
-Feel free to suggest anything, I haven't got much else in mind for what I'd like to do with this mod

Possible Plans: (none of these are promises)
-Purifier civic
-Dragon Empire exclusive tradition tree(s)
-Civics/Government options that add more than simple modifiers
-A cool secret that I don't want to share until I know if it's even possible

Current version: 4.2.0

4.2 Changelog:
-Finally up to date for Stellaris 3.8.
-Dragon leader trait altered to be a council trait. See changelog for details.

Note that the Dragon Hive and general hive mind features of this mod are not complete and are going to be changed (for the better, hopefully).

Please look at the change notes tab if you'd like the features of every single update since 2.1

I have made a fix for this mod so it is playable with Stellaris 3.10 and later, it seems 3.10 had altered how portraits were handled and so it broke custom race mods that were not updated. I do not plan to add to this mod, I just wanted to make it playable again.

If there are any issues I am sorry, I am in no way a professional modder. I just always play with this mod and took it into my own hands to fix it. This mod has worked perfectly on my end but I have not tested it with others.

as for that last bit of info... let's just say my curiosity that got me hung-up on this mod in the first place got the better of me a second time.

@OlegY Now they are spawning in with your mod, I don't know what's different now. I even went back and rebuild my modpack 1 mod at a time and now I am getting no issues. Though I think the reason why I had those issues has something to do with whatever chunk of coding makes the "dragon government" civic and the dragon species trait "mandatory" had something to do with it. These features are the only thing that I can see being different from your version and this version, and I even went in and changed "randomise=yes" to no and other such ai effecting functions and it still works. That would be the end of the story, but I am still hung-up on the fact that the dragon government civic modifier doesn't add 3 in the fixed version. I guess I am just hung-up on the "why is this what caused the issue," and if it's at all possible to work around it. Then again, I know nothing of stellaris coding except for the past 3 and a half hours of deep diving into the stellaris modding wiki.

@Magna Greymayne I made a mod which provides compatibility with this and other dragon portrait mods.It is as well makes dragon trait non-mandatory so you can, not picking it with dragons or picking with someone else, like you want.

@Gamerhell Your issue is strange, while testing how my mod works with this mod i haven't any issues when forcespawned AI with portrait, trait and civics from this mod.

Well, at least I gave you a start for bug fixing if you come back to it, I hope you enjoy working on your current project and I hope it goes well.

I have decided I am no longer working on this mod, sorry that I'm leaving it broken :(
I think someday I'll pick this up again, for now I'm working on other things

It has been a week without response, and all I can confirm is that the problem is not just a standard "custom factions wont spawn" issue, at least as far as I can tell. Is anyone who used this mod with the last update able to help or at least confirm this same issue.
Gamerhell 21 Nov, 2023 @ 3:33pm
If it helps, I will state that they were given the boosted civics because I plan on having them be a sort of endgame threat, and their origin is remnants.
