CWT-2 Compact Repair Welder

Coyote Orbital Design Bureau: Division A
23 items
Description
NO MODS OR DLCS REQUIRED! This ship uses only one pretty safe subgrid (more on that later) and runs only one completely optional script.

To support some larger ships during missions (such as the ACT) and assist with shipyard repair work, Coyote Orbital sought to combine the low cost and tight form factor of a small utility vehicle with the speed and range of a large welder. This effort resulted in the creatively-named CWT (Compact Welding Type) or simply Compact Welder, so named because it can squeeze through openings as small as 10 by 7 meters--that's 4x3 large blocks. Though an increased focus on planetary operations has meant this design sees scant usage in recent times, it has nevertheless been successfully built and operated in survival multiplayer on the SkunkWorks servers.

pls liek nad subscrioob if yuo liek. i luv 2 know wat u thimk of my shipes

Specifications:
(Learn more by uploading .sbc file to SEPraisal[spaceengineerspraisal.net])
-Mass: 28,831 kg empty
-PCU: 2,980
-Blocks: 489 total
-Acceleration: Slow to slower, depending on load (not too important I think lol).
-Scripts: Fancy Flight Info by Blargmode. This script is optional; due to its constant, large updates (or something, I'm not a geek) it is not recommended for multiplayer servers. It does however look VERY cool

The Subgrid:
The CWT uses an advanced rotor to connect the large welder with the small grid ship. Since it is not possible to add a large head to small advanced rotors from the terminal (shakes fists in the air KEEEEEEEEN), it has to be attached manually.
In multiplayer, I placed a welder floating in space and attached an advanced rotor head onto it. After welding both up and converting to station, I printed the small grid portion and flew it over onto the welder and rotor head, then attached without incident. When I later tested this in singleplayer creative however, it blew up the whole ship :)))))) Obviously Clang still haunts us and His every whim cannot neccessarily be predicted, but I'd recommend simply building an advanced rotor head and converting it to station, attaching it, and then building the welder on once you have avoided Clang's wrath. Unfortunately, your mileage will definitely vary.

Controls:
Tab 1:
1-Use welder
2-On/Off toggle for welder
3-Rear camera
4-On/Off toggle for connector
5-Lock/Unlock toggle for connector
6-Auto/Recharge toggle for ship batteries
7-Increase gyroscope power (adjust depending on load)
8-Decrease gyroscope power (adjust depending on load)
9-On/Off toggle for all thrusters (so you don't toast your pretty hangar)

Tab 2:
1-On/Off toggle for advanced rotor lock (leave alone unless necessary)
2-Attach advanced rotor head
3-On/Off toggle for antenna
4-On/Off toggle for repair projector
5-On/Off toggle for FFI programmable block (for when Asy93 is calling you out in chat because your ships have a high update time...only hypothetically of course)
6-Update FFI, if you want to mess with screens
7-Stockpile On/Off toggle for oxygen tank

Description:
An ion-only ship, the CWT is restricted to zero-g repair work, since fighting gravity makes welding so much harder. It draws most power from several large and small batteries, providing it with more than enough charge to get through the longest repair jobs. With medium and large small grid cargo containers, as well as the storage of the welder itself, this ship has good storage regardless of inventory settings. An oxygen tank lets you work long hours without worrying whether you'll suffocate.
Styling was heavily influenced by elements of Taidyr's works (as usual lol); it was designed to pair with the ACT stylistically and not just functionally.

My slides were made with some editing in paint dot net, and the awesome logo is courtesy of Paralix (ty soooo much!). All screenshots are entirely vanilla; nor visual mods or filters were used. (nvidia ansel i loooove u)

No problem, glad I could help! You'll have to build the small ship portion first with the projector, which should be fairly easy since it isn't too big. After that you'll need to place the welder separately; just read the section in the description that discusses it + the comments below. Fly safe = )

@madame catastrophe Thank you, at first thats what I thought but it seemed to big since on the dlc page the gate is only 2 blocks tall. When I get back to my home pc ill try this blueprint out since it seems like it will work nice! Do you know if its pretty easy to build in a projector?

After I took a second look at the photos it seems like two gates put together...Im an idiot. Thank you for your time though!

@FerretForRent It's the gate block from frostbite DLC (technically vanilla).

unrelated to the blueprint, but what mod does the hangar door belong to in the last two images?

No, he's saying you'd build the subgrid manually since it's just a large grid advanced rotor head and a large grid welder. No blueprint needed.
Rilwer 28 Dec, 2020 @ 6:06pm
Oh so the blueprint will appear after those two blocks are placed?
hvalross  [author] 28 Dec, 2020 @ 5:49pm
@Rilwer you don't need a blueprint for the subgrid. Just place a large grid advanced rotor head and then build a large grid welder on it--it only needs those two blocks.
Rilwer 28 Dec, 2020 @ 5:44pm
As I am new to space engineers, I do not know how to get the subgrid so I can build this in survival. Am I missing something or is there a separate blueprint I need to print it?
Kam Solastor 23 Dec, 2020 @ 6:43am
Instead of a sacrifice, have you tried a snackrifice?
hvalross  [author] 22 Dec, 2020 @ 10:03pm
It's probably worth a shot. I'm not sure if I'll do any extensive testing with this since, well...it really just depends as far as Lord Clang's wrath goes. Landing gears tend to be worse for me when doing subgrid attachment things, but maybe I just haven't been performing enough sacrifices ; p
