Un Nouveau Monde - Colonial Overhaul

Description
"Un Nouveau Monde", French for ‘’A new world’’ offers brand new possibilities to eu4 players looking to colonize the Americas. The mod adds numerous colonial regions and improves the management of colonies with new events, decisions and more. “Un Nouveau Monde - Colonial Overhaul” ensures a rewarding colonization process while making colonies harder to keep and revolutions more likely.

We’ve just updated the mod for version 1.37, check out the Change Notes to see what has changed.

The Future
Our goal for the original version of “Un Nouveau Monde - Colonial Overhaul” was to improve the colonial map and make colonizing a more engaging experience. Now that we have updated the mod for version 1.37, we can focus on making more in-depth features.

Patch 2 - Colonial Empire
We are currently working on a bigger update for “Un Nouveau Monde - Colonial Overhaul” that is centered around the management of your colonial empire. The update will include :
  • New Monuments in the new world.
  • New and improved decisions to manage your colonies
  • An improved version of colonial specialization.

Features

Colonial Regions:
New colonial regions have been added to allow for the creation of more colonies.
  • Acadia
  • Upper Country
  • Hudson Bay
  • Illinois
  • Prairies
  • Oregon
  • Texas
  • Appalachia
  • Florida
  • Lesser Antilles
  • New Mexico
  • Connecticut
  • Susquehanna
  • Guyana
  • Patagonia
  • Upper Peru
  • Guatemala
  • Chihuahua
  • Coahuila
  • Missouri
  • Carolina
  • Zealandia (new)

Colonial Names:
To further improve immersion, multiple tags and/or cultures now benefit from custom names for every colonial region ; new and old alike.
Tag-Specific:
  • Portugal
  • Castille / Spain
  • France
  • England / Great-Britain
  • Britany
  • Morocco
  • Papal State
Culture-Specific:
  • Irish
  • Dutch/Flemish
  • Danish
  • Swedish
  • Norwegian
  • Icelandic
  • Korean (new)

Missions
The base game and many of the DLCs add multiple missions about colonization for the major and minor tags. All those missions have been updated to align with the colonial regions.
(New) This includes all the missions added since version 1.31.

Colonial Missions
Colonies and former colonies have access to a new and massive mission tree (±30 missions). Progression will influence development, liberty desire and relations with their neighbors or overlord.

Colonial Mechanics
Specialize your colonies by choosing a custom set of ideas between multiple options. Former colonies who have obtained independence will also be able to make this choice.
  • Polyvalent Colony Ideas: Base game
  • Sprawling Colony Ideas: Faster colonization and development
  • Trade Colony Ideas: Commerce and natives’ acceptance
  • Martial Colony Ideas: Increased military presence and colonial defense
  • Maritime Colony Ideas (Coastal Only): Supplies and naval superiority
(New) The Leviathan DLC greatly improved what was possible to do with colonial nations by introducing new colonial types and subject interactions. While we are working on expanding and integrating this into “Un Nouveau Monde - Colonial Overhaul”, we have disabled the colonial specialization for people with the DLC (former colonies will still be able to choose their ideas).

Decisions
To further improve the expansion and development of your colonies, we've added 3 added different types of decisions.
  • Religious Mission: Send religious delegations in your colonies and help them guide the natives towards salvation.
  • Trade Centralization: Centralize and organise colonial trade around designated trade hubs. Since the new world is lacking in overall trade value, an overlord can finance the creation of a new trade center in some colonial provinces. (New) More hubs have been added to the map.
  • Unification: Merge your colonies into larger ones. (New) Unification regions have been reworked and more have been added.

Formable Nations:
Three new nations are now formable by former colonial nations: Manitoba, Lagwiyann, and Newfoundland. Other formable nations have also been updated to match the new colonial regions.

Localization
“Un Nouveau Monde - Colonial Overhaul” supports all the languages supported by the base game, but only in english currently.
  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Spanish
We plan on doing the full French localization in the future, but we don’t know when that will be yet.

Compatibility
In general, "Un Nouveau Monde - Colonial Overhaul" should be compatible with most small mods that do not change colonies or colonial regions. Bigger mods that make changes to the map, add or modify tags, or modify subject types might not be compatible.

We have specifically confirmed that the following mods are compatible with “Un Nouveau Monde - Colonial Overhaul”:
  • Subjects Expanded
  • Trade Goods Expanded (for the Domestic Monopolies mission)
  • Governments Expanded
  • Flavour and Events Expanded (will work but some events may trigger incorrectly)
We will keep this list updated as we check more mods for compatibility issues.

”Un Nouveau Monde - Colonial Overhaul” is compatible with Random New Worlds, but most of the features will not be available.

Hi! I'm not sure I understand your question. In the base game, you should already be able to colonize provinces adjacent to your subject's territory. Are you encountering a new bug while playing with our mod?

Do you know how to make a new subject type that allows to overlord to colonize adjacent provinces to the subject?

Is this dead now already?

It's not! It was just a tough year for both of us and after the Leviathan debacle we are waiting for the next update to continue development. Additionnally, implementing new colonial cultures has proven itself harder than expected. ^^'
