50 Foot Flatcar

Description
Thanks to recent advances in the field of putting wooden decks on steel frames, our scientists have invented a flatcar capable of carrying any load, or even multiple loads, up to 50 feet long and 50 tons of weight!

Roughly based on an AAR 50 foot, 50 ton flatcar. Comes in several liveries. Old crappy model I've not updated much but at least there aren't random 4096x textures in there anymore. Might do some more realistic loads in the future - in the mean time enjoy this very stupid and unrealistic all-cargos flatcar.

Introduced: 1941. (Never expires!)
Weight: 15 tons
Maximum Speed: 79 MPH
Maximum Capacity: (36/4) = 9 (but it seems to actually load 10, in 2 compartments)
Cargos: All of them, go hog-wild!

how to adjust the capacity ?
Kellykeli 7 Feb, 2024 @ 9:24pm
Yes, the capacity is a bit low, but the sheer variety in cargo types offered by this flatcar seems to actually be a strength in gameplay; you could choose to get higher capacity by using more specialized cars better geared towards a specific cargo type, or you could use these flatcars to make your trains more versatile in the types of cargo that it can carry.

Being able to see the cargo on the trains is also super cool.

For those of you that think 10 is overloading, just tweak the files and set capacity to way way higher and car can haul an entire city. Though the loco has troubles pulling even one partially loaded so you you will have to tweak the tractive effort and power numbers of the loco to compensate. End result, super train. And yes, that qualifies as cheating. But since this is a single player game, who cares. To bad I haven’t figured out how to tweak the vanilla locos and wagons, yet.

Uhm, I have a problem.
The logs on my flatcars keep rolling off.
Is there a solution to this?
(just kidding, it's a joke, but I would like some cables or somethin)

Godsend flatcar, improved from TPF1 even... They finally figured out how to put logs on it!

Wait, they'll carry logs?

This looks fairly straight-forward and not remarkably dangerous. Are the flatbeds at least painted with lead paint?

Great!
