Description
[Vanilla] Tier 3 Space Station for Experimental 1.12+. The Helios X-Change can be used easily with up to 12 of J Randalls’ Helios compatible modules. This Tier 3 Space Station comes with 4 Container Controllers at 320kSU, 4 Furnaces, 2 Deconstructors, and 1 Advanced Constructor. Constructed using CPU with weights and volumes on in Vanilla.

I feel that the Helios concept and philosophy of deep space exploration while taking as much as possible with you may streamline the game making it more fun and less frustrating. Have you ever filled up your ships cargo only to realize that your base is 1500 light years away? Have you ever been in the wrong sector in your heavily laden Mining vessel surrounded by Decimaters or Dreadnoughts then wish that your Heavy CV Fighter wasn’t 1000 light years away?

I had been planning on building a modular Space Station based on CVs for a while now. However, I knew that there would need to be some sort of module standard to be created in order for this style of base to be truly successful. When J Randall created the Helios sled, I knew that with his numerous followers that a possible module standard would be possible.

When I saw the modules being created on the workshop I became motivated to finally create this new type of modular base. Even if you don’t use the Helios sled system for extended deep space exploration, a very high productive modular Space Station could be created to serve your needs.

You can upgrade to Tier 4 to add up to 8 Advanced Constructors along the ceiling and 4 more Furnaces along the outside and just about anything else you want with all that extra CPU. If you do upgrade(I have) you will run out of fuel, if left unattended, when you leave everything on(I did). Plan ahead and park this right in front of a sun.

Due to the new “Chaining physics” in Experimental 1.4+ fuel and generators have been placed outside and separated for redundancy.

TIPS:

1. Place in a safe planetary orbit or asteroid field as close to the sun as possible for maximum solar energy.

2. Designed for full Wifi remote management throughout ships.

3. Frank the Manager is not happy with your productivity.

That could be done. You would also need to convert concrete blocks to steel/carbon. Would also struggle with ability to carry a large amount of material.

Remember a CV can dock to another CV but CVs cannot dock to a Base(at least in Vanilla). The guides are just for parking your CV. The Pads are just for looks and keeping things nice. Because the CVs don't dock they can still fully function and offer additional protection as well as shield functionality! I park the modules and turn the thrusters off on garden modules to continue growing crops. Storage modules I leave completely off because they are just used for storage. You can also leave the power off on the Helios X-Change and the solar panels will continue charging!

Is it just me or do the modules not dock as they do in the helios. I have had the Helios main ship since it came out and use It daily but once I spawn this in I was not able to dock the modules as I currently do with the main Helios ship. Meaning I don't hear the connect sounds and I don't get the docked ICON no matter how perfectly aligned and push forward I am.
