Description
Presenting the KM6500
When Kahrstrom Marine looked at the market of large marine engines for cargo and tanker vessels, the trend was immediately apparent. The market needed an engine that could not only deliver sufficient power, but also ensure what has become the standard for all Kahrstrom Marine engines - a reliable, easy to maintain engine that uses as little fuel as possible. With the KM6500, these standards were applied and taken to the next level - all to ensure that you get from point A to point B as efficiently, as fast and as cheap as possible. The Kahrstrom Marine 6500 is the only sensible option for any shipping company aiming to dominate the market.

Technical Specifications
Engine type: Turbocharged inline 6
Measurements (including sub-systems): 11.75x4x7.25m (length, width, height)
Weight: 6325kg
Price: $71254

Set-up
  • Load your own vehicle. Use the grid selection tool to load and paste in the engine. Merge the engine with your vehicle.
  • Connect air (light grey funnel), exhaust (dark grey funnel), fuel (grey pipe in front), coolant (directly to sea, found underneath) and move the throttle where you want it. Last but not least, remember to hook up and adjust the gearbox. I recommend running it at as high of a ratio as possible.
  • Start the engine by turning the key and then holding the ignition button until the red indicator light goes out and the engine is running on its own.

A huge thanks to WH1T3_No1SE for letting me use his modular engine microcontroller <3

You may use this in your workshop creations as long as you credit me and link this page. You may NOT upload this creation at its own.

Buy me a Swedish Fika

Too little power or too large to fit?

Because it has so much weight it needs to move

Amazing looking engine and runs really smoothly.

This may be a question for White Noise instead, but once I'm underway, the propellor initially get's good RPM, and I'm getting maybe around 10-12 m/s, before it slowly winds back down to 4.5 m/s after a few seconds. I've noticed that it stays around 20 degrees so wondering what I need to change so that it may run a little hotter, but I get more performance out of it?

Cheers for the build!

Yes, you have to control the clutch yourself.

I found the problem, the clutch is not connected to any logic nodes.

Hmm, the engine turns on and throttles up properly, but there seems to be something funky going on at the gearbox, connected propeller wont turn no matter what, tried it on the ship im building and also tried it with just the engine on land. Same result, maybe something in the latest broke it ?

is two of these overkill for a 100,000 mass ship

I meant Helicopter of course* :p

Well, Alright. It may be impractical in Stormworks but I've got no choice. :p
I need to push 16,9 Million liters and the ship around it over 250 kilometers (arctic and back).
Right now I have 2 x 80 cylinders set up in rows of 4. It is working pretty well except of course that is a giant eyesore.

Btw I looked through your workshop items, Really love your engines and planes. Really good work.
Also if you do decide to build an engine that size, I can't buy you a Fika, (I personally find Patreon to be a horrible company) but I can gift you the boom boom DLC when it comes out. :p

Thank you! 20-30 cylinders would be both unrealistic and impractical in Stormworks, but I've been thinking about doing some V-configuration engines or something like that with the 5x5 size cylinders, which would then have a few more cylinders than this one.
