Description
Presenting the KM6300
The Kahrstrom Marine 6300 is part of the next generation of heavy duty marine diesel engines. As demand for Kahrstrom Marine engines rose, the need for a broader selection was born. So, comes the KM6300 - an engine based on its larger sibling, the KM8300, the KM6300 offers the same groundbreaking reliability, low running costs and impressive power-to-weight ratio, but in a more compact form, making it ideal for smaller vessels with limited space but a need for power. The new Kahrstrom Marine 6300 - power, now even more compact.

Technical Specifications
Engine type: Twin turbo diesel V6
Measurements (including sub-systems): 6.25x2.25x3.25m (length, width, height)
Weight: 1318kg
Price: $14458

Set-up
  • Load your own vehicle. Use the grid selection tool to load and paste in the engine. Merge the base part of the engine with your vehicle. Note that the engine will spin to its normal position when spawned in.
  • Connect air (white funnel), exhaust (grey funnel), fuel (grey pipe in front), coolant (directly to sea, found underneath) and move the throttle where you want it. Last but not least, remember to hook up and adjust the gearbox. I recommend running it at as high of a ratio as possible.
  • Start the engine by turning the key and then holding the ignition button until the engine reaches 120RPM and runs on its own.

A huge thanks to WH1T3_No1SE for letting me use his modular engine microcontroller <3

Too little power or too large to fit?

nevermind, I trimmed it down and might possibly get it to fit.

will there be a V4 anytime soon? I am building a ship that is so small that even this doesnt fit in it. I have no idea how to make good modular engines and want to avoid using the old ones as much as possible.

working on a build using these massive engines. love them they are easy to fire up but for some reason at about 1-2 mins after leaving port the engines idle wayyyy down then they go up then they go wayy down and stall out. hooked them to fluid jet drives and the big gal goes but then dies out. very confused. please advise. thank you and great build!

I dubbled the cooling system and for some reason when at low RPM it gets hotter than with high RPM any idea why? And how should I decrease the load I think it´s based on the weight of the ship bcouse when I remove 2 of the props the load stays the same :/

Stormworks is very agressive on the heating of engines, basing it off a function of RPM and throttle input. Putting the engine under heavy load will make it need a lot of throttle, which produces more heat (instead of just basing it off RPM which is the main contributing factor in real life due to friction). Try to run it at as low of an RPM and as low of a load as possible. It's got plenty of cooling, so it should be fine under normal loads.

hey I don´t know if I´m doing something wrong but as soon as i connect the eingine to 4 large props the temp just takes of an the engine is on fire after 10 min

Are you engaging the clutch properly? It does not engage automatically, you need to set it up yourself. Make sure to engage it slowly and at relatively low RPM's to avoid overstressing the gearbox and breaking it.

heyyy i don't know if im doing it wrong but i hook up you engines i tried 2 but none of them but none have been putting out thrust

Good to hear! :)
