Soldiers Stronger vs Heroes (Heroes Nerf Mod - FULL COMPATIBILITY with anything)

Description
An extremely compatible method of nerfing heroes without the need to make compatibility patches to mods that add new characters or abilities or even CA's official update.

This is done by changing one value in the game's rule: "entity_attack_interval_and_damage_modifier_vs_heroes"

This value dictates a hidden buff to units' damage calculation when applied to a hero unit. With this mod, this value is currently set to 4X.

This means that when a hero is fighting a regular unit with the following stats:

melee damage: 10
melee damage ap: 30

The game will calculate the unit's actual damage as

melee damage: 40
melee damage ap: 120

So when a hero is dismounted and surrounded by unit, there's a very high chance that not even Lu Bu can get out without suffering some major damages



COMPATIBLITY

This does not touch the hero's unit or even the regular unit HP or damage values directly, this is a modifier applied on top of the unit's in-game stats.

Which means that this mod is COMPATIBLE WITH ANY AND ALL MOD THAT ADD NEW HEROES/UNITS/NEW ABILITIES ETC.


The mod is also extremely easy for the user to modify to their liking, simply open up the mod .pack in RPFM and change the value of "entity_attack_interval_and_damage_modifier_vs_heroes" from 4 to whatever you think works best for you

For reference, a value of 10X will make even two trash sabre infantry units in the tutorial fight of Cao Cao's 190 campaign be able to kill Xiahou Dun. 4X for me seems to be a sweet spot where heroes can still be strong but if left unattended can die relatively quickly, especially towards late game


NOTE: you will not see the value changes in the units' stat sheets, but you will feel it in the gameplay. To test to see that this mod works, simply change the value to 10 or 20 and try to have one hero solo a tutorial fight.

its super important that i get this mod working, but it seems to conflict with guv's bandit overhaul mod for some reason. might have to trya different version

I've been searching for a way to play romance with more of a records vibe regarding combat. I'm not crazy about single entity generals but if they are used as more as an attachment to a cavalry formation or all alone motivating your battle line with their proximity, then I could definitely be enticed into dropping several hundred hours into another campaign. It just never sits well with me when I'm playing records and I come across items whose abilities are clearly for romance and simply haven't been added in to records. Anyway, I'm hoping if I can find a fatigue and morale modifier then in tandem with your mod I will have exactly what:steamhappy: I wanted. Mucho Mucho my friend.

so this mod reduces the stats of generals right? they will be reduced armor, weapon, attack speed, melee or units will be increased in strength

Theoretically the case, however, the game also has a minimum attack interval so there's a sweet spot somewhere I guess.

Mounted heroes rides around the blob of enemies a lot instead of staying in one spot to fight, so having each swing hit for 4x damage can makes a difference. Left a hero idle for 10 second in the midst of an infantry unit and they melts fast with this mod whereas previously, they have a lot more chances to get out and hammer & anvil charge again

BTW, if the interval is increased, then the frequency of the attack decreases.... right?

The attacking animation will also take some time, so I think decrease this variable from 4 to 1 can make heros more tough in melee, but may be not 4 times.

@woodhawk109 It is decreasing the attacking speed while increasing the damage, like 120 damage every 16 seconds instead of 30 damage every 4 seconds. This is from the description in assembly kit, but I haven't test it.

Wait Alex... if the attack interval is also 4X increase, wouldn't the overall dps to heroes be even greater than what's expected?

So instead of hitting for 30 damage every 4 seconds, it's 120 damage every 1 seconds, or am I getting the wrong impression on how attack interval works?

Either way, after some testing, setting it to 10X definitely has a really drastic effect where a ji militia can route Zhang Fei if he's left to fight and not hammer&anvil charge

entity_attack_interval_and_damage_modifier_vs_heroes also increased the attacking interval of units vs heros by 4 times, so the overall damage should be about the same.
