Mule Design Walkthrough

Description
Shows how to make a Mule. A compact mining vessel that is fairly cheep in survival and very effective. because it is so short it can maneuver in its own kurf. You can copy this in any of your worlds as long as you make sure to leave "Mule" in the beacon title. Start with a new small ship. Don't forget the components on the front in step 2.

This Mule uses heavy armor for added stability while drills are active. 2 Forward Lights and a reverse light. I usually put supplies for thrusters and emergency repairs in one of the 2 cargo containers, for those accidental dings. It is very compact and uses 4 gyros so you really can adjust your mining path precisely while you are drilling a surface.

The Mule does finally have conveyors and connectors on it. To offload ores just face down towards your collection bay and set connectors to open.

If your materials are running low you can build this ship without,
-Half of the thrusters on the back
-Conveyors on the front
-Connectors on the front
-Lights(although I recommend at least 1 for reverse, because thats the most common fault for a collision)
-Half the drills(If you are desperate)

Can't open it, can't you make like a series of screenshots from both front and back???
should bea easier then this... ANd is universal and won't give issues and will always be up to date with the ga... more or less ;)

Thanks for this. I tried Mule and I am impressed. I just slightly updated it to suit my needs (conveyors) and I think that for me personally it´s long time winner :)

I like the compact design of this and the thruster layout is quite clever.

If you do go more expensive in conveyors and storage, you can have a lot of small storage containers using up the light armor block spaces between the cockpit and the outer hull.

It would be nice to have collectors on the front but they are the size of the drills. the ejectors are on the front so that you can empty your drills without building elaborate conveyors(easier and cheeper and faster)

Shound't the ejectors be collectors? except for that it is a really stable design altough I would replace the ore detector for a medium cargo container.

Here's a version I created and posted. Let me know what you think. It's posted under IFC Miner. Add me as a friend and I'll be sure to actually add a link to you as a contributor instead of just a mention in the post.
