Report a translation problem
I fiddled around with the spacing and placement of the hatches, doors, hulls, and floors and came up with a version that moves faster than ladders and only rarely sucks passengers out the door!

1) Doors, yes it's intentional. The elevator itself is a shuttle, so the space containing the shuttle is the ocean. If I had connected the doors to the end of the hull, they would flood the entire submarine as soon as the door opens.
2) There is a tiny gap between the elevator and the submarine. It is too small to be lethal, but I can't make it perfectly line up with the shuttle without causing strange stuttering when the elevator moves up and down. It is possible to improve it further but I chose not to since this is just a demo
