Character Biographies REBORN! [standalone version] (MTU, TUP, WU, TROM compatible) 1.7.1

This standalone mod adds detailed background stories to unique characters, using both historical and romance records, to help give life to the Total War Three Kingdoms world. Learn how your favorite character in game fared in actual history! What great deeds did they accomplish? Or how perhaps how tragically they died? Almost 700 biographies have been added as of 04/02/2021.

REQUIRES NO OTHER MODS TO WORK. NO SCRIPTS ARE USED. THIS VERSION IS RECOMMENDED FOR COOP MULTIPLAYER CAMPAIGNS.

FOR A PRETTIER VERSION THAT INTEGRATES THE UI NICELY LOOKUP WOODHAWK109'S CHARACTER BIOS. THAT VERSION REQUIRES SCRIPTS AND MAY NOT BE RECOMMENDED FOR COOP MULTIPLAYER CAMPAIGNS.

By editing the xml file for character tooltips, many of the UI elements on that specific tooltip have been adjusted. Many of these adjustments are to adjust things from vertical to horizontal orientation, so that a huge character biography can fit at the bottom. These character biographies are driven and linked to the unique character backgrounds, and use the flavor text .loc table to store this biography text. Only characters with unique backgrounds can have a biography, but through the help of other mods (see below) this number is ~700.

This mod can be used alongside your favorite character art expansion mod such as: MTU (Make Them Unique) and TUP (Total Unique Pack) or WU-King. These mods add hundreds of new unique backgrounds to real historical characters, which are utilized by this mod. These mods are not required, but recommended.
As for other mods - this mod is compatible with every mod I have seen on the workshop. I have seen zero mods that edit the UI, and other mods that edit the .loc files will never break this only potentially overwriting it.

Resolutions LOWER than 1920x1080 may have issues with the tooltip display. However I don't think many gamers run resolutions lower than 1080p, so it should be OK. If you have issues with how it displays on lower resolutions please leave me feedback.


Characters that have the text "No deeds of note yet recorded…" are placeholders. Either I have not worked my way down to that character or I've struggled to find details online about that character. If you have more info or text you think I should include please let me know! Post it below!

Load Order
This mod should load LAST, after all other mods like TUP, MTU and WU.

Can you make a translated version in Korean, Chinese, ect?
I personally cannot, as I only read and write English and terrible Spanish. However, anyone else is free to make their own spin off version that translates the mod into other languages.

Known Issues
-investigating text cut off at resolutions of 2500x1600 and above.

This mod builds on the amazing work of other modders in the 3k community. Everyone who has made mods for 3k that I have used, and have inspired and encouraged me to get into modding, thank you. I would especially like to thank:
- Havie for his amazing mods early on into 3k release. His Havie Dynamic WuXing is still a required mod of mine for any playthrough.
- woodhawk109 for his original version of expanded character biographies in English. He put in a lot of work to harvest the text of the backgrounds, only to be screwed when patches broke the mod and other mods that functioned as requirements for his background mod.
- Inter-object for his Gathering and Gathering Sandbox mod and his directly feedback on his discussion board. This guy is a scripting god for 3k who pointed me to the xml file that contained the UI elements I needed to mod. Everyone should run his Gathering: Core Object mod to help the base game handle the vanilla events and scripts so they don't break.
- All of the incredible artists and modders working on MTU and TUP. These guys have now added over 500 characters with their own artwork and their own unique character backgrounds! Without the unique character backgrounds this mod would not work and would be very limited with too many generics.
