[GM] City 17 - Trackside

Hey all, a brand new map set in everyone's favourite City! This one is a bit smaller, and aimed at solo players and small groups of roleplayers. It's also great for screenshots too!

//Requirements//
Nothing should be required as it should all be packed into the bsp. The map file itself should be "gm_city17trackside", minus the quotation marks.

Please be aware that while no other games should be needed, mods and other workshop items might cause interference.

//Gameplay//
  • Breencast that can be turned on. Can't be turned off though, so the reset listed below will be needed for it to stop!
  • Multiple enterable buildings including a store, a garage, two industrial buildings, and two apartments
  • Spawnable Metrocops that will react to being attacked. One officer patrols around a bit and one stands guard
  • Some destruction. Windows can be shattered or destroyed, including skylights in the garage which will let the rain in
  • A properly reflective, real time mirror in one of the apartments
  • Rain
  • In the background of the map, an APC and a Razor train will move about, hopefully making the city feel more alive, especially for those who might be playing solo. To add to that, there are some background citizens standing about.
  • Spawn room with two teleports, one to a side alley and one to the main car tunnel. This spawn room also contains the ability to turn on the Breencast as well as the metrocops.
  • Nodes and navmesh

While in the Gmod Sandbox mode, any dead bodies, blood stains, activated map scripts or other changes can be cleaned/reset using this: Pressing Q -> Utilities -> Admin -> Cleanup -> Cleanup Everything

//Development//
Originally, I wanted to release my new take on Trainstation District, however some techincal complications have prevented this for the time being. So, to keep my promise from my Ravenholm map, I quickly decided to create something else for City 17.

This map features several scripting and map building techniques previously seen in my other maps and some only exclusively seen in some of my videos. I figured it's time to start adding them all together and letting the public play with some of these things. Consider this both a look back at what I have done as well as a preview of what is to come.

I think one of my biggest inspirations for the map has to be rp_downtown which can be seen in the size city17trackside and some of the locations.

//Closing//
Well, after this I am going to work on and touch up my old Black Mesa map. I will come back to my original plan for the new Trainstation District, I just need to work on the technical side a bit more since the map is...well, I'm not at liberty to say.

I attacked the metro police and even after cleaning up the map and dying, they're still hostile.

plus if you stop working on this lovely work ive just lost ALL of my hope in every half life 2 uprising map. ive been looking for a really good decent half life 2 uprising map but i never can or a really good ai noded citadel map. nothing. almost been a year now of me trying to find one. please make something big and dont stop working on this georgus work.

@rileysv i beg you to make a half life 2 uprising with npc nodes or city ruins or the citadel but its like the one in episode 1 where everything is falling apart. like keep up this great work. i just wanna see something HUGE! half life 2 uprising map thats BIG or idk. i just want you to keep up this half life 2 work. i just love your stuff my dude. seriously. please please keep up this AMAZING work!!!

@mrflimfan Those are really good suggestions for maps. I think both of those would be technically feasible as well. I'll see what I can do!

so i got a new map suggestion
it could be either rp or sb, either one would be pretty cool
but a map called "gm_citadelcore" would be awesome, because i can't find any maps with/of the citadel core.
there could probably be some buttons you could interact with, maybe a spawnroom where you can trigger the near-meltdown situation.
another map suggestion for just sb is "gm_citadelruins".
remember how in ep2 (well technically ep1) the citadel explodes?
well i always wondered what it would look like in it's ruins.
so it could have some iconic rooms from it, but they're all on fire, rusted, and just not working anymore.
maybe a prison pod area could have prison pods on the rails that when you shoot, they'll fall down?
but it would be in an area far away from the lightning of the portal storm. but the portal storm would still be above the map.
well, that's the end of the two map suggestions.
