Please note that there should be 3 screenshots per scene, one for HL2, HL2 Update, and for this HRCS addon respectively. If you only see 2 or less, it means they were deleted on the backend for whatever reason.

High Resolution Cubemaps & Shadows

This is a map from Half-Life 2's campaign. I strongly recommend having played the original game first before experiencing this.

Another map where I showcase the maximum extent of the Source Engine's static lighting system using GMod's 64bit compile tools. Features 256x256 resolution cubemaps and the highest resolution shadows possible without the compile tools throwing errors due to to many vertices or faces being to complex for lightmaps.

Compiled for LDR & HDR and retains full functionality as long as you have Half-Life 2 purchased & installed on Steam, and mounted in Garry's Mod. Also includes a navmesh.

Completing the level as you would in Half-Life 2 will take you to map d1_canals_03_hrcs if you are subscribed to it.

Map name is d1_canals_02_hrcs, and can be found in the "Half-Life 2" map section.

Misc info/trivia:
  • This map is not from a decompile.

If you don't have Half-Life 2 mounted, it's possible that scripted sequences will not play, or may be bugged.

Astute memory. I'm not going to lie, that version of the map you remember was a part of a group project, and I did not request permission to use the vmf; those fences you saw were not my work. When I was doing my second round of touchups for this HRCS project, I redid the map from scratch, so that all the handiwork seen here is only Valve's and mine.

This actually applied to canals maps 01 and 01a as well. In fact, all the way up until 07 was a part of that project originally, but everything after this map (02), was my work. I have also completely redone all canals maps from 01 to 07 from scratch.

The project was (is?) called Half-Life 2: Lambda Revision and is (was?) being developed by a team who call themselves Eikia Studio. I left the team on my own accord because I deemed myself as too unreliable due to being too busy during the day due to work, and it felt scummy to keep it up, hence this vanilla (in comparison) version that also matches my vision for Half-Life 2: HRCS better.

I swear there was a different version of this that had like a fence or something on that wall you see at the start of the map. What happened to it?
