RTR: Imperium Surrectum 0.6.7

Description

We are proud to present to you all: RTR: Imperium Surrectum 0.6!
This is the sixth official beta version of the mod, presented to you by the combined teams of Rome Total Realism and Roma Surrectum. Overall, RIS will look to provide historical accuracy as well as fun and challenging gameplay.

In this version you will find, among many other things:
  • 100+ newly remastered units for Greek, Hellenistic and Tracian factions.
  • The largest map in TW history with 1808 cities and regions total, virtually all as heavily researched as possible, and beautifully painted with Kirsi's map textures.
  • A total of 54 playable and 50 unplayable factions with unique UI and banners.
  • Complete rework of the Traits & Ancillaries with +1500 unique Archon traits, +400 city and +50 tribal traits. Olympic traits, spoils of victory, supplies/attrition mechanics and much more.
  • Expanded BI-religion-based system to act as a second culture mechanic with a total of 48 religions, including 29 sub-religions for Greeks, Anatolians, and Thracians, representing the major peoples and material cultures in the mod.
  • 4 Turns per year with increased recruitment and building time + season traits.
  • More than a hundred new academically researched and referenced unit descriptions, as well as some new historically accurate in-game named characters.
Improvements for battle map environments, trees and skies.

  • An intuitive and immersive AoR and recruitment system across all campaign map.
  • 64 reforms along with an Egyptian revolt mechanic, as well as 15 other emerging factions.
  • New extreme mode for the players who love an insane challenge.
  • Many fixes for issues from 0.5.0, such as unpathable areas in settlements, freezing when assaulting a gate with a siege ram in some settlements, etc.
  • A diverse and vast soundtrack that differs for each culture.

Issues FAQ
  • Why are my unit cards all showing vanilla peasants?
In the graphics settings, change the 'unit colour scheme' from vibrant to realistic.

  • When I try to start a new campaign the game sends me back to the main menu!
Change ALL campaign settings to 'remastered'. If you are unable to do this within the mod; launch the vanilla game, change the settings there, and then relaunch the mod.

  • How do I trigger the Marian Reforms when playing as Rome?
Reach a huge city and build an imperial palace in any of the Roman starting cities + Ancona, except for Rome itself.

  • How do I know when military reforms will occur when playing as another faction?
Military reforms for other factions than Rome have their unique triggers. You will receive a pop-up message when a reform occurs.

  • I cannot recruit any units, how does recruitment work?
Upon conquering a city, you first need to construct your 'Recruitment' building. This represents a city or region's integration into your faction. Higher levels unlock more and better units, however, you will also need to upgrade military infrastructure (barracks, stables, missile ranges) to be able to recruit them!

  • What is the recommended difficulty?
The recommended difficulty depends on your experience and preferred playing style. We balance the game for Hard/Hard, but feel free to turn the difficulty up or down if you like!

  • X unit is weak! Y unit is ahistorical!
The unit rosters and stats are still temporary right now. We will keep improving them in future releases.

  • What are you planning for the future of the mod?

Battles take too long. Feels like I'm watching a slideshow of still images when it comes to actual combat. The map is too big. At times it feels like pop growth is too slow as well.

@Kalindraal We are making the mod WE devs want to play. We are making everything as performent as we can while not compromising on our goals. Remember this mod will be played years from now so we are not targeting yesterdays hardware, rather medium hardware today. It already runs very well as long as your got new gear.

I respect the want to make this mod for "modern hardware" as I have seen devs here say so often when responding to comments saying it doesn't run well, ect. I have a computer it can run very well on, but I also have a few others I like to use if for no other reason than I don't want to fire up the huge tank. I won't get into specs, they're fine. However, this mod does not run well at all on anything other than the big rig.

Turning the textures on the units and such up to 11 as it were, on a game like this...is like putting a v10 into a ford pinto, why do it? It's a remastered game, not a remake. It bit ridiculous if you ask me. Plenty of other mods offer a ton of cool features, factions and even their own flair on graphics without needing a significant amount of horsepower.

If absolutely nothing else, the number of settlements is absolutely unnecessary and just overwhelming. That all being said, this is in no way me dumping on the devs, what they've done is amazing, trust me lol.
