Description
Marisa Kirisame resprited is finally here!

Marisa is an all or nothing rushdown character who excels at combos and edgeguarding, and supplements her high speed melee with projectiles that allow her to continue pressure from afar or win neutral. Once she gets in close, she can do a lot of damage, but her stubby reach and a lack of answers for enemy projectiles can make neutral tricky for her, and true to the nature of the Touhou games, she has little room for error due to her light weight. So, make careful use of her own projectiles to create an opening for yourself! Or, you know, rush in head first and hope for the best.

There's also a secret taunt for you to find...

This is actually a remake of one of my old mods, which was originally a sprite rip. This new version now features fully original art, new moves, reworks, and is resized to fit into Rivals better. Also, abyss runes are now supported!



NSPECIAL: Mini Hakkero
Fire a projectile using the Mini Hakkero. Fires either a magic missile, which starts slow but then accelerates and has a lot of power; or can be charged to fire illusion laser, which has great range and coverage. While firing the magic missile you can angle it, and it is also possible to rush forwards on the broom if used in midair! You can also move backwards a bit, but not nearly as much... Be aware that after using this move, the Mini Hakkero will go on cooldown, and the cooldown time will be longer if you shot the laser. But don't fret; the UI will helpfully show you exactly when this move is ready to be used again.

FSPECIAL: Witch Leyline
A powerful head-first rush attack where Marisa flies forward on her broom at high speed. If it hits, the move stops and immediately lets you act. However, if you miss, it leaves you quite open. Does not beat projectiles.

DSPECIAL: 'Shroom Slam
Marisa hops upward before diving down with the broomstick and slamming it into the ground, creating a line of mushrooms in front of her. The mushrooms will uproot and turn into comboing projectiles when an opponent is launched towards them. You can also use the move again to make the mushrooms uproot manually, while simultaneously making more mushrooms. A move for starting or extending combos. It can also restore your double jump offstage.

USPECIAL: Miasma Sweep
A rising uppercut attack using the broomstick. It has especially high power if you hit right at the start. Unlike moves of similar nature, the uppercut is not invincible on startup. However, it does make her immune to projectiles all the way through.

Other stuff: Forward Air can be charged to turn it into a projectile. It can also be angled up/down.

this character could be so much more with just a tiny bit of touch up, her fair could be like pomme's fair, and some changes to nspecial and sfx on hit could make her so satisfying to play

Hello! I just wanted to say that I really enjoy playing your character, and I think she's very fun to play!

I am also interested in doing a character patch for her, and would like to ask if you would be fine with updating the character. The patch would mainly consist of a few bug fixes and some attack buffs and/or nerfs that I believe would improve her gameplay more.

Again, I think she's really cool, and I would like to help out with making her game feel even better. I look forward to your response!

Version 1.4 brings a rework to the mushrooms spawned by down special. They can now uproot automatically by launching an opponent towards them!

Version 1.3 has now arrived, making a few tweaks. You can see the details in the change notes section.

For the most part I'm happy with how this character is now. Any future patches I make are likely to target Down Special. While it would be cool to replace it with a new move, I'd like to not waste the art assets I've already made, so it's unlikely I'll do that. Instead, if I have time I'll look into reworking how the move works to see if it can be made more useful.

I enjoy the changes quite a bit.

While I don't find myself utilizing her Up Special a lot, I do find the reduction quite nice.
I was a bit mixed on you removing the air dash cancel from her Side Special, I do find more utility with it now that I'm not at threat of free fall if I miss. Doesn't make it more spammable though since I can easily get punished for missing, but it still does a mighty fine job either way.
Down B, I'll be honest, I have not found many situations where I can utilize it at all (Both before and after the update). Not sure if it's the hit box, the arc, or the overall damage of the mushrooms, but I can't find a way to use it in most combos I make.

Overall, I really do like these changes a whole lot.

Version 1.2 is now here, finally bringing some major balance changes and tweaks. The balance changes are pretty significant and should make a noticeable difference. There are also some visual updates. The details of everything can be found in the change notes section.

No Biggie, I really just love this mod a whole lot, so I wanted to at least know a few things about it like if you were planning on doing more with it like some smaller touch-ups or large overhauls

@Baitofqualitycooking I've been feeling very out of it recently, which is why I haven't done any updates. I've had thoughts about things I could rework, but can't decide how to do it.
I didn't think there was still interest for updates, but seeing as there is, I'll try to focus on some more basic improvements I can make to make the character's gameplay better in general.
Thanks for dropping this comment, I'm surprised people are still thinking about this mod.
