Dyers Guild

Description
The Dyers Guild is opening its shops in the Wasteland!
We offer 44 unique color schemes to paint your gear!
Our residences are located in all corners of the Kenshi world, so you can easily reach them, no matter how far you build your outpost!
Only today and only now - we don't even take money for painting! Our Dolls will do everything for free!
Hurry up! Limited offer!

In this mod, you can visit 17 Dyer Guild shops and paint your armor in your chosen color scheme.
There are 29 vanilla color schemes available, and 15 new ones.
Note that not all armor can be dyed, and not all armor supports two-color schemes.

To paint your equipment, simply place it on one of the Dolls, and then take it back.
The color scheme can be seen on the palette above the NPC's head.

If you go to remove the color from your equipment, then sell it to the merchant, close the trade window, and buy the equipment back.

Location of shops:
1. Central part of Skinners Roam
2. Central part of right Arm of Okran
3. Northren Coast, border with Dark Finger, on the shore.
4. Okran's Gulf, to the northwest from Military Base.
5. Dreg, border with The Shrieking Forest, on the shore.
6. Between Hub and Vain, on the road.
7. Western part of Vain, where the river flows into the sea.
8. The Swamp, to the north from Shark, on the road.
9. The Hook, between Clownsteady and Drifter's Last.
10. Crossroad between Shem and Flats Lagoon.
11. Southeast from Catun, on the road.
12. Northern border of Stobe's Gamble and Venge, nearby ruined settlement.
13. Centarl part of the border between The Pits and The Pits East, on the road.
14. South part of The Eye.
15. East part of Stormgap Coast, to the north from Cultists Village, on the shore.
16. South border between Spine Canyon and The Great Desert.
17. The Great Desert, southwest from Sho-Battai.

A conflict is possible if other mods place something in the same places where the Guild buildings are located.
Are some of the paint shop positions empty? This is normal. I left some free space there.
However, sometimes several Dolls can be lost. This is a known vanilla bug and I can't do anything with it.

I don't remember how I chose the colour palettes to add to the list anymore. Some of the ‘vanilla’ ones were very similar to others, so I didn't add them, and added a few of my own instead. I might have missed some though.

A little overpopulation, nothing special, just keep passing by, nothing to see here :lunar2019laughingpig:

I don't remember if I set the option to make squad size independent of population settings or not... I think I did, for both the "dolls" squad and the merchant squad.
But things like this shouldn't happen anyway.

Fantastic mod, and works very well. Would have been nice to have more of the vanilla colour schemes included, though. There are 35 native colour combos, and while some are pretty close to each other "cool orange" generally creates pretty brown-looking garments -- whereas the Crab Colour and Water Clan/Red Sabres colours offer more vibrant versions. But the latter two aren't available unless you do the old knock out/swap gear stunt to dye your equipment.

(Unless something's bugged out in my game, and the empty pedestals should have belonged to them)

Works just fine on my end. Make sure it's a colouable item (not all vanilla items are), and make sure it doesn't already have a colour assigned (sell it to a merchant to clear the colour).

doesn't work, i tried it on vanilla items

Problem is skeletons don't wear all items, so they can't dye everything
This.

Back then I was thinking about making a separate race that would look like a mannequin - made of wood, like in Skyrim.
But considering how Kenshi handles NPCs, living and moving wooden mannequins would look even more strange than robotic skeletons.

Wouldn't be hard at all I'm sure. Problem is skeletons don't wear all items, so they can't dye everything. Also, slaves who whose sole responsibility is being a soulless meat mannequin is actually remarkably Kenshi-like in my opinion. xD

how hard would it be to make the dolls skeletons? having soulless meat manikins just feels weird and not immersive

Not all armor or clothing can be dyed. Check the comments below.
