Vanilla Style Reskin and Recolor - All in One

Description

This is a combined version of all my unit reskins, Viking faction recolor, and Great Viking Army symbol replacer mods. It reskins every unit, officer, and standard bearer in the game, in a very vanilla-friendly way, and gives a few of the invading Viking factions more unique colors, because those factions use boring gray and dull colors, that make them look like generic rebels.

The way that the vanilla outfits are set up, there is only 3 possible soldier variations (that means only 3 shield variations too), so I added two more soldier variations to every unit, and approximately 30 possible shield variants per unit, with all soldier variants being able to carry them. The shields are based on the unit's vanilla shields (with a couple more patterns added), in all the faction/ pattern color variations, so it's a better version of the vanilla shield distribution.

Some of the more important English and Welsh factions, have shields unique to their faction, and the Welsh factions in general have a dragon shield pattern from Inspector Gadget's East Engle and Northybre Reskin , that makes them stand out more from the Saxons. Viking factions have a Raven shield pattern that I created, that seamlessly blends in with the vanilla patterns, and I also added some facial tattoos that some Viking soldiers have a chance of having.

Great Viking Army Vanilla Style Reskin

Gaelic Kingdoms Vanilla Style Reskin

Great mod. Subtly improves the look, yet I can still recognise the different factions in the melee mosh pit.

Would it be possible to give the welsh factions down south more unit models with longer hair like the ones in Strat Clut? I respect and appreciate the work you did on this mod...it's just that I think longer hair models would look better than the current hooded models. Thank you & good job with this mod!

@mill76 - I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble. I don't know your level of familiarity with using mods, but make sure that you are subscribed, and have it enabled in the mod launcher. It's not the kind of mod that would heavily conflict with other mods, so if you are still having trouble I am not sure what the solution is.

@Ghost, I was definitely on the fence about changing East Engle's symbol, more so than Northymbre's, so thanks for the feedback.

If anybody else has an opinion on East Engle's symbol, feel free to give me feedback about it.

I'm sure it's just me haha, and historically you're on the money about the successor I'd think - Eohric was definitely the pillaging sort. No inconvenience btw, it is after all just an emblem, not as if you turned the whole faction fluorescent green :)

@Ghost, If it ends up being controversial with a lot of mod users, I will separate it out of this compilation. I just think that CA, giving them (and Northymbre) crosses as their symbols was a bad choice, because what if you want to have your faction not be Christian in your roleplay? The symbol I gave them doesn't make them any less or any more Christian though, and it is up to you whether you are making a Christian, Pagan, or hybrid kingdom. Also Guthrum tends to die before too long in my experience, and who is to say whether his successor is as disposed to Christianity as he was?

What you can do if you don't like it though, is either use a program like Pack File Manager to delete the new symbols, or download my mods individually and just not use the East Engle Symbol Replacer. I expected some people to not like it, so I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

ngl, bit sad East Engle lost their old symbol, I always thought it fit quite well with Guthrum/Athelstan having just changed to Christianity and trying to rule over his new Christian subjects without causing them to rebel due to him being a Dane

@ War Master - It won't work with Shieldwall.
